Preparing to head West(Perth) in next few days after House sitting in Forbes/Peak Hill for past 6 weeks. Van has been parked in driveway for period and consequently not used. Turned on the water pump today and it would not stop pushing water out the inlet point at the water reservoir. (A bit like a tap you cannot turn off until you turn the pump off) Would appear an issue with a return valve or something. Has any one had similar experiences?
I have had the pump replaced under warranty and I think I need to find a more reliable brand or up grade the pump.
G'Day, I found when I picked up my van, a 2013 Jayco Sterling, I was having a lot of trouble getting the pump to work, turned out after getting under the van that one of the hoses had been crushed where I presume the van had been picked up with a forklift. I fixed the hose and haven't had a problem since.
Hi John. I think Jayco use Shurflow pumps - these are the most common in RVs and very robust and reliable.
Have a look in the folder the Dealer gave you and see if there is an instruction booklet for your pump - you should have been supplied one.
Shurflow can be bought on-line - easy to fit electrically (you really don't need to get an auto sparkie or caravan repairer to do it. The hoses fit on easily and bolt (don't screw them or they will eventually come loose) it to the floor.
Google shurflow - theyre on-line and you can get size details to make sure it fits in the space you have. You can buy them cheaper through ebay

The amazing things you see when nomading Australia
Try this it happened to me on my Jayco
The mains inlet is also a way valve, it removes from inside the van, mine had a tiny bit of grit stuck in it and when the 12v pump came on it pumed water back out of the mains inlet. 15min of work fixed it.
Hope this helps
Might be a little of topic but Jayco late model vans and motorhomes are having problems with there Pressure Limiting Valves and are replacing them for free , so if you have low pressure tell your local dealer.
I contacted Jayco Coffs Harbour (Wayne) who indicated that the return/stop valve appeared the problem. Temporary fix is a hose to tap connector wit acouple centre meters of poly irrigation with stop inserted in the end. This is connected to the water intake valve. Will need to source a John Guest Check Valve which I have and insert in the line between the pump and the water intake valve.
