Hello everyone- shall I shall I not

Firstly , like say a big hello to all Nomads , I have been admiring all you guys for some 10 years now,

and here I am hoping one day I will meet up with you on the playground.

Chances are I'll be doing it solo...and chances are never to see Adelaide again...well passing through of course ect...

I was hoping my wife would be a part of it but looks like she rather stay with the security of her community and wardrobe.

Nevertheless, I'm 57 and can't live in 4 walls the rest of my life. So all the inspiration is coming from this forum.

I't would be really good and appreciated if I could read about someone's Solo beginning similar to mine ...

meaning ...packing up and just do it...and say goodbye... Ha ..who knows may find a new one to travel with me..LOL.

Anyway...wishing everyone the best and see you on the playground soon I hope.

Kind Regards

Otiv

That's exciting... damn...if only I would be ready when you are... I'd follow you for security and company... I'm 57 and you read my earlier post the other half wont have a bar of it...
so things a bit touchy with us (over) so we have had our time and now and soon it's time to move on amicably....it's funny lots of ladies around me said the'll leave hubby to live the dream...
I't would be great to have a partner...but that's me.. maybe find one along the way..ha ha ...exciting.

I'm planning and hoping it will take me 5 plus years after that I will evaluate my position....
On another hand I could leave anytime for say monthly spurts haven't got my rig yet looking now as we type. I could talk for ever Sue, so no need to reply I don't want to be your first bug.. ha ha.
Yeah... me too winter sucks... wow..can't believe I know someone solo.......

my real name by the way is otiv backwards.

Welcome to the gang Otiv and Sue, enjoy here and out in the playground.

I too am solo. I decided after loosing my wife to cancer 4 years ago and my 21 year old son just prior to that I would get out of those "four walls".

I started by keeping my unit in a village and bought a small Avan Camper Trailer then was away from base camp 8 months a year UNTIL last year, when on my "northern migration" had heaps of car trouble. I got to Townsville and thought things through and made a big plan.

I bought a new tug while in Townsville then on my return to VIC I ordered a new den to tow. After waking one morning to see a memory I wasn't expecting, decided enough was enough and put the unit on the market, one week later sold and one week after that moved out. Quick hey!  No time to think about things.

I am now a solo full time grey nomad and proud to call myself that. I have not looked back once and love every minute. I do what I want when I want and how I want. I have small plans when travelling around but they have been known to change as I go, why? Cos I can smile  I am fully set up for free camping and love that but don't mind using show grounds or similar but try to avoid CVP's if possible. If I do have to stay in one I go to smaller towns or CVP's with no bells and whistles.

Now that you have both introduced yourself may I suggest you check out all the different sections of the forum including the main web page then post in whatever section is appropriate.

Keep Safe.

Never a bug Otiv (or Vito?). Always interested in hearing about the plans of a nomad. It inspires me.

Also thanks Dougwe. I suspect I wont become a full timer but... who knows.smile

Hi Dougwe, it's sad to read the beginning of your story...heartfelt, and yet it's good to read that you continued with your life whether it be as a Nomad or another challenge. strength and courage my friend.

Your story is consistent with all stories I've read thus far..ie: once you start it becomes a way of life and hard to let go., Interesting also, I'm picking up many prefer free camping and avoid CVP. I suspect the main reason could be cost's associated
would this be the case.?, If I could ask you...do you know of a link where lots of discussion about expected running cost's on day to day basis, I know we all different, just that gives me more of an idea and probably to hunt down something
unexpected that I haven't considered.

Also one question on free camping, if you found a spot, and were the only camper there, would you still set up, or advisable to be with others? Have you ever free camped on you own?

I will be posting in appropriate sections..but thought whilst I got you here..

Dougwe, thanks for sharing your story and hope one day we can say hello to each other.

Bets wishes mate

Vito

Thanks Sue.. maybe a cuppa one day together.

Im disappointed.........with just Vito and Sue posting here - it was showing signs of an on-line partnership.

Or are you two now PMing each other LOL

Whatever happens - enjoy life, enjoy nomading - its a great life style !!

Funny...cheers B&B. Thanks for the encouragement. are you reading between the lines or something ... LOL. With so many nomads out there all with a common goal..the ice has broken already.

I can just imagine the stories around a camp fire in the evening, let alone the all the stars and sounds I haven't seen or heard yet. I keep dreaming of early morning rises and breathing the crisp fresh air

and seeing a mist across a lake that I camped at..... making breakfast for me and ...... mmmm .... just me. must be photographic images planted in my mind beginning to develop.

Many thanks Bruce and Bev,

Best Wishes
Vito
