Registration Plate

Hi there,

I'm just starting out with a new van. We have just purchased a Crusader Excalibur and have heard that someone was picked up in NSW & fined $430.00 for having their crusader van Licence plate mounted higher than 1300mm from the ground. can anyone tell me if there is a specific rule to this or should i just check with Motor Reg?

confuse

Dave

G'day and welcome to the mob. this was covered recently and I would check the facts with your local MVR. To see previous comments go to the search box at the top of the page and enter something like number plates.
Cheers

Welcome to the gang Dave, enjoy here and out in the playground.

Firstly, I cannot understand why a CV manufacturer would not make the rego plate height legal during the make also and as well even why it gets registered in the first place if not right height, that said, we all understand the CV industry is not as good as it could or should be.

Now, yes it should be at a height no more than 1,300mm from ground when van is level, it also should be visable at a 45* (I think) angle for either side. As B2 said this topic was discussed in detail recently so pop over to "Techies" I think for memory or do the search, a good read.

Keep in mind each state and Territory may be different, yet another reason for a National rego and rules system but I didn't say that or won't go there disbeliefno  biggrin
