Harrassment

My Lambie is under Dures,What should we do.

My wife is a special needs school teacher with 30 years teaching the kids that really needs teachers like my wife.

She has so many accolades over the years from both within the CEO and the parents of kids she teachers.

The school got a new La Principal 12 months back. And with it came a new way of teaching.( Its now become a full blowen  CORPORATION) NOT EDUCTATION. THE PAPER work Is outragus.............. Less teaching.

My wife is working to bring up the new way of the way The CEO wants it done till late into every night.

My pool love had a full Hysterectmoy  early this year we stage one Cancer. Which Is good, In that it is contained.

My wife is exhausted and still go's on.

We have decided to call it a day In July 2016

This afternoon a new teacher who started at the same school earlier this year, is giving my wife hell. Told two fellow teachers this afternoon she feels like STABBING SOMEONE.  And that's A staff Member>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> It has been reported to the NEW Principal. This afternoon.

My wife left the school in tears. The Union is so WEEK.

I have rang our family Solicitor and asked for an appointment to deal with the situation.

Any help would be appricated. We, She Needs Help ........I need to go public.

My Wife is there for the kids. NOT ONE of her students leaves that school without a full time JOB. Year after Year.  She is so deadicated to her work.

Hey Jim

This is not a problem to be discussed in public.
You may finish up on the end of a libel case.

Cheers,
Peter

I don"t Think so. The Union is on it already.

What is more important To report or not to report. A teacher has a duty of CARE.

Jim, it sounds to me like your girl has done more than her fair share. Whether she leaves now or in another ten years, she'll no doubt feel like she could have done more.

My advice for what it's worth, is to leave it in the hands of the union and not get personally involved with any litigation. After beating cancer, don't let this eat you guys up, get out there and enjoy your just deserts.

Peter, Jim was smart enough not to name any person or institution, so he no reason to fear being sued for libel.

get her out of that school!!

There are plenty of others needing teachers with these skills, or even doing it as a single pupil there are many that the State or weathy parents will pay well just to teach their disadvantaged or special needs child.

If working in a State school - go on extended paid sick leave - speak to your GP and take it up with the Education Dept - they have a professional standards unit which deals with this sort of treatment being dished out to your poor wife and others

Would not help in the slightest.

Identification is simple and it would be very clear who he is discussing publically to anyone connected.

Then again, that is his problem, not yours and not mine.

Cheers,

Peter

Hey Jim

This is pretty common these days in the work force particular aimed at the older generation.

My good lady suffered a similar situation in 2013 with a new office manager. She was not alone in the end 4 ladies were forced to leave with out any support from CEO or Work Cover.I requested an interview with CEO and this beaut CEO did not think it was appropriate for me to be involved understanding that I was picking my good lady up each after noon in tears. In the end the good lady went on leave for 3/4 months and never went back after 16 years. We brought forward our retirement plans, sold up and now in our 2nd year on the road as to say.

We should have done it earlier.

Remember there are no winners in these situations and your good lady is not going to achieve/gain much in the next 12 months. Her health and well being is worth more than another 12 months of stress.

I'm in the same job, just take stress leave get your GP to give a months leave and then reassess the situation, I know a number of teachers in special needs who have gone through similar situations in my school, no help from admin and if in wa you do have recourse through work safe, just take a month off and look at it again...another avenue may be to take a grievance action against the offending teacher....do not rush things....

My partner was also a teacher and suffered the same.We sold up and hit the road.Best decision we ever made and now if we need a little extra she does relief teaching. $400 a day and no working nights and weekends doing planning, marking and learning how to reinvent the wheel.Tell your wife there are better options out there.

Hi Usedtobe Donedreaming,

Yes We are doing the same. Lambie has applied for her state Number, and I am advising all my clients that I will going down to  2 days a week.

If that doesn't suit them tuff luck.

The government cut back Tafe courses years ago. and now they will be less to go around. I work in a specialised field of industry.

We are a tight knit group. Their used to be 11 of us. 5 have retired, and 6 still going. One has cancer and is working a couple of days where he can. I'm going down to 2 days, all of the others are a simular age group. Within 5 years. we will have Zero.

And this Government wants Manufacturing and the population to work till 70. Load of BULL DUST.

Does ABBOTT & CO include Teachers in these numbers. If he does. GET OFF HIS ASS WITH HIS EDUCATION MINISTER AND ADDRESS THIS SITUATION. THEY ARE FULL OF HOT AIR.

REGARDS Jim & Lambie

Jim. When we head north from Melbourne, Im dropping in at Kilibirrie House to have a Barbee with my mate Tony. I'll tell him to get on to the issue of mature teachers LOL.

Seriously though - done dreaming has come up with a winner. $400 a day - wow !! Lambie can work when she wants to or when you need some more $$$$$. Theres a lot of rich buggers over here in the Eastern States who will shell out heaps for their poorly performing child to be tutored for 2-3 hours a day. Apparently trained teacher/tutors are like hens teeth, so they fall over themselves looking after Tutors.

Most of the companies who are "service providers" for Centrelink are always looking for staff full or part time to provide basic training for disadvantaged people who need to be taught the 3 R's or help them through a govt paid Tafe type course. The teaching is done on the companies premises.

So theres plenty of opportunities for Lambie to stay in full or part time work, have her efforts appreciated and be well paid !!!!!

Don't forget, your wife can take a years leave without pay and then reassess the whole thing. I retired at end of 2013 and wish I had taken 6-12 months off to see if it was really what I wanted...am back doing two days a week which suits me for 2015 at least...I would have kept my old super scheme that way instead of my new current super.

Jim, that sux the big one. I had a similar experience when I was teaching in a catholic college in 2012. The boss was a complete a r Se and I had a significant mental event, went on workcover (which was knocked back) Union useless, so I got a barrister onto it. Long story short, I spent $10,000 helping my barrister get a new haircut and zero from the college.

We ended up selling the house and buying a caravan, best move ever. The mongrel kept at me for 6 months after I left. All over now thank goodness. I feel so sorry for you mate, my wife had a hard time from me because of this turkey, thank goodness for anti depressants. Take care of her

Cheers

My wife was a school teacher when we first met and every weekend she would drive the 40min to my place and I would spend the weekend de-stressing her by cooking etc and letting her just relax and forget about school and it's infighting, red tape, idiotic 'new' teaching requirements that the modern curriculum demands and, of course, the odd abusive disruptive and sometimes violent children which teachers seem to be hamstrung in their options for disciplining.

When we got back from our 2 year holiday we decided she didn't want to go back to that high stress level so my wife, at 52yo, quit teaching at schools and took up home care and does tutoring at our home between 3pm and 6pm.

The Home care is between 2 and 5 hours on most days then in the afternoon she has about 8 kids a week for an hour each. She gets a bit less pay but her state of mind is so much better.

Teaching one on one is a joy for her, especially with kids that have learning difficulties and don't get the attention they need from the classroom at school.

Also helping old people and people with disabilities in the home care job has been an uplifting experience for her.

Now the only stress she gets is from me. no.gif

Cheers

Jon
