Nice to see them get a bit more much needed rain. :)

Unfortunately it will most likely be another twelve months before we will be able to head that way. :(

We're in Esperance at the moment and about to head up through Perth to Meekatharra. By the time we get there the plants will have had time to show their appreciation and should be looking good.  The wildflowers down here are already starting to look good. smilesmilesmilesmile

Keep Gascoyne Junction/Kennedy Ranges in mind, leave the rig at Gascoyne Junction new CP & Roadhouse/Tavern, good campers kitchen, unpowered sites $10 per night, $25 powered on grass, $35 powered on slab and $45 on slab with ensuite.   All brand new up on the hill.   Bitumen from Carnarvon to GJ, 175kms.   Out to Kennedy Ranges 50 kms gravel (best just take the tug) there is a camp host camp there though.   Check with GJ Tourist Info centre or Shire at GJ for info on road out to Kennedy Ranges including the concrete crossover of Gascoyne River at GJ.

Wombat is stuck at Port Hedland at the moment due to the floods in the area he wants to go to.

PS:   See caravan park section for pic's of GJ.   Can go south from there also to Murchison Settlement Roadhouse/CP (New CP) and out via Mullewa, but gravel and a few river cross overs on the way.  GJ should be able to give you road info on that route or a phone call to Murchison Shire (office is located at the Settlement).

AS mentioned try to get down GJ, Murchison, Mullewa. We did it in 2010 & saw 2 vehicles in 24 hours but loved the solitude. Was a good dirt road then. We also took vans to Kennedy for 3 nights. the sunrise /sunset colors in the ranges are just perfect, especially the walk up the hill at sunrise. At that time Murchison Roadhouse diesel was the cheapest anywhere as it was council subsidised. The van park must have been built since then. We go out of service by about 10am to-day so do not think me rude if you come back with a question & I do not reply. We are out through the Gary Junction Road to Marble Bar. Safe travel.

Keep your eyes out for Wombat, last heard he was at Pt Hedland heading south, possible he may go to Gascoyne Junction but not sure (for new members Wombat is an ex GN member).

I was at GJ last year, also went out to Kennedy Ranges, came up via Mullewa and Murchison Settlement Oasis Roadhouse (both there and CJ have new CP's).   Fuel was Murchison is about 10c cheaper than CJ and about the same as the cheapest (BP) at Mullewa.

Pics of both CP's are in the caravan section here and Kennedy Ranges in the low cost camp section, go back a few pages though.
