Tomorrow is the big day, we leave on our first major grey nomading experience. Since joining this website I have read hundreds of posts in just about every category there is and made many notes of recommendations from many people on here. I have posted a few questions and got extremely helpful replies. As we travel I will use this website as our travel bible I have no doubt. I want to say thank you to every one who has contributed to the copious information available on here and I know the help will be ongoing and somewhere on our travels I sincerely hope I will be able to meet up with other grey nomads. We don't have a GN sticker to identify us but we are driving a Jackaroo and towing an Island Star Concorde van and in most places will be accompanied by an Hyundai towing a Coromal van so if any of you see us pull in please come knock on the door and say hi.

Great to see you are joining us out in the playground. Enjoy every moment and try not to plan too far ahead. You night even find yourself changing things as you go.
If you find yourself in Townsville over the next few months send out the smoke signals.
Keep safe.

Dougwe I certainly haven't planned to far ahead nor planned on doing to much. Tomorrow our plan is to travel as far as Fernvale a whole 60klm from us here in Logan. I have roughed out an itinerary from here to Mt Isa with no days, dates or durations attached.....if we see something that looks good we will stop ( translation....if I see something that looks good HE will stop lol ) Don't plan on driving more than 250klm on days we travel but realise in some cases we may have to. This is an open ended trip so we plan on taking as long as we want to

Its great to see the thanks you have given other folks here on this Form where their ideas or suggestions have been of help to you. There are too many people lurking on this Forum who only read and never say anything.
And you've got the very best idea of travelling - don't over plan - go where you want, keep an eye o the weather (storms, flooding etc) so you can pack up and go or head in a different direction to the one you intended.
You will love the way you are intending to get about the country and will meet many great people (and the odd strange and unfriendly one -but not many of the latter - wave, smile and say hello to all. But keep in mind that some older travelers have some hearing problems and may not hear you say hello from a distance - don't assume they did hear you )))

Good on you for getting out there and doing it. :)
Two more months and Lyn and I will be out there tripping around as well. Have bought the tug just having problems trying to select a suitable van that we can actually afford........and one big enough to live in, but yet small enough to get in and out of van parks easily. :(
Cheers,
Tom
