Chinese manufactured tires.

I needed tyres for my caravan a few months back and I was offered cheaper tyres and when I had them in my hands they were very light, didn't feel right and settle for a better know brand pair at 30% more in price.

I feel a lot happier with the known brand, the load rating was very good along with the speed rating.

On my old ute I had Goodyear's all round but the front ones chopped out at less than 20,000 K's, so replaced them with 2 Chinese Tyres from E-Tyre Store in Brisbane. The new tyres where half the price of the Goodyears AND had a greater load rating. The remaining back Goodyears chopped out another 10,000 K's later so had no hesitation replacing them with the same Chinese ones. From memory I got about 40,000 K's off the chinese front tyres. Maybe I was lucky....

Possibly ideal for caravan? I find car type tyres made in China to be more truck tyre compound compared to performance tyres..
I have 3 diamond on my old motor home ., they are fine.. You MAY. Be surprised where known brands are made btw..

A large percentage of car and van tyres are made in China and are the equal of any made elsewhere - check what is on your tug and you may be surprised as most big name tyres are Chinese made. Back in the 60's when I was working in New Guinea we could buy Chinese tyres and also Chinese beer from the trade stores. I'm constantly amazed at how people underestimate the quality of most Chinese goods. The rubbish Chinese stuff that has a bad name was always been imported by Australian sellers who want to maximise profits so they buy the cheapest available to market.

Pirelli's; world known for many years. My truck had them as original equipment & all six fell apart at 20k.

I did make a serious complaint to pirelle aust, they sauced the old ones back to their factory in Sydney from interstate at their expense. Requested me to have the spare changed as well to my choice, emailed all invoices to them & they paid in full for a set of seven tyres of my choice.

If you want to know where your tyres were made, check the DOT code on the side, then go to this webpage and look them up.

Tyre Manufacturers codes.

"DOT 2VLE" is on the side of mine. (DOT) is American Dept of Transport. (2V) means they were manufactured in the TRIANGLE (WEIHAI)HUASHENG TYRE CO., LTD. WEIHAI, SHANDONG PROVINCE, CHINA. The (LE) is apparently a tyre size code.

Whether the list is 100% accurate, I don't know. There are a few other sites that also list tyre DOT codes, just do a google search to confirm with another site if you are really concerned at where they're made.

Lots of tyres these days are manufactured in Indonesia - even some brand name stuff. Just like cars from Thailand (aka East Detroit).
