This as on my must do list when I first got the Patrol.
After 15 years & around 200,000km I find that it would have been handy perhaps once or twice.
So it seems my decision to procrastinate was the right one.
I'm far too impatient to unhook & then rehook to a front pusher bar.
If I had a regularly used & difficult parking situation I may have a different view.
In my case, to park along the side of my house, I just learnt to use 4 low & improve my reversing technique to cope with the uphill & slightly dog legged approach. Slow & easier on the clutch. SWMBO controls the occasional traffic & alerts me to any looming disaster .... or the neighbor, a fellow caravanner, comes out to give very professional guidance. I prefer do do it solo though.
ps. (edit) never had transmission lock up despite having to drive 10 m or so on the bitumen in 4WD while turning & climbing over the gutter.

has anyone mounted a front tow bar on their Patrol?

This is how I mounted mine which I copied off a patrol,mine is fitted to a 120 series Prado,I had a dog leg where it made it easer to put the van away.now I have shifted house I don't use it, I must say it made life easier ,when I did use it I had a pump up jockey wheel on the van to take some of the weight,and only used at home,and was always removed for travel.The patrol had one mounted on both sides,if they are offset you can look down the side of the van while pushing.

Mate had one fitted to his patrol and used it often worked well. just be careful that you don't set off the airbags fit you push back. Also there may be ADR concerns with the airbag trigger sensitive just a thought no evidence to base it on
