Camps 8 Book Faded Print in Maps

We just updated our Camps Book to #8, so far not very impressed. Seems all the map pages look faded and washed out which makes it very hard to read. Does anyone else have this issue or did I just get a dud copy???

Hi Steve, Di & Ziggy,
Yep,we have Camp Bk 8 and have used it just about every day since beginning of March with no problems. Also have the Camps C/pk book and it's also OK.

No the maps in Camps 8 are much fainter.

Preferred the old maps & symbols in earlier issues, as they were easier to read and not as cluttered.

With you there Bill, I think this will be my Last Camps Book.  I've also noticed where there are camps close together C8 references all the camps at one spot on the map whereas my previous book listed each site indivdually on the map. I've only had C8 a few days and already regret buying it. Been avoiding WikiCamps but now might be a better choice.

Regards Steve

The couple who own the Camps book company always sincerely seek comment - good and bad - about their books.

PLEASE email them (its inside the front of the book and complain. They obviously think they did it to make the latest edition of more use - but obviously some users disagree.

Don't let Camps disappear by not using them in future, without at least giving them the chance to improve things.

I mainly use wikicamps, but have Camps 8 as a backup - a have a mistrust of things electronic lol

No, I haven't yet, I wanted to see if it was just my copy or if others had the same issue first.  We went back to where we bought it and all the copies on the shelf were the same, so looks like all from that batch.

Hears an example on Page 347, there's 3 blocks of text in Orange coloured print, I can only just read the first line which is in Bold, however, the text underneath is unreadable even with the aid of a magnified glass with a light.  It's the same on every page throughout the book. River Names and Minor Town names are all unreadable. I can normally read 3 and 4 point type and these texts appear to be around the 4 point mark but they are not legible.  My previous camps books I could read all these texts without issue.

Regards Steve.

IMHO there's just one word to solve the problem, Wikicamps.

I love the electronic gadgetsbiggrin

Hmmm, Page 347 of my hard-cover edition (South Australia sites 547-562) has no orange printing at all - it's all black on white, apart from the Hema maps coordinates which have an orange highlight but still fully legible.

Cheers

I have the soft cover, so can assume they are printed separately and perhaps use different artwork for maps.  I've sent an email to the publishers, I'm eager to see their responce.

Regards Steve.

I have the hard cover version and page 347 is fine.

My only dissappointment is with the maps which aren't anyway near as user friendly as those in earlier editions.

I have sent you a pm with an email contact for them, bear in mind that sometimes they are on the road checking out camp sites and not always within internet coverage areas, so replies may be delayed.
