good to hear and fee sorry for the business people being affected this way, but my biggest sadness is for our farmers......we need them. Our Aussie farmers generate $50B in overseas funds each year and prices are generally high for products they can produce, unlike mineral resources which are also finite in life.

The Premier of WA suggested about 5 years ago running a channel from the northern Pilbara to Perth and feeding water off all the way down the State. The cost was huge and people rubbished him and it cost him an election so Perth has turned to salt water.

Has anyone looked at running channels into QLD and northern NSW and feeding it off in smaller channels and pipes to headers?

We already pipe water for 1000's of kms in many of our States

Maybe its impractical, but we need to think of something to help them out even if it costs billions, rather than staring hopefully at the sky for rain. Coastal QLD and NSW is drowning in water and their desalination plants have all been mouth balled because they have so much rain water.

Our investment today will be returned many times over throughout the years to come and get our farmers back up ad running again - as well as increasing our exports/income

A story that my father told me (many times) was that near the end of WW2 the yanks offered to supply all the machinery and the man power at no cost to run a pipeline from Ord River to Perth to give their boy's something to do.  But, the government at the time didn't want the help and knocked back the offer.

that Is probably true about the Yanks . As they offered to build a dual road Syd-Bris , via road 136 & New England.

To those who  don't know . Road 136 , is the Putty Road..

I agree on a pipeline , but NOT channels or canals , besides there would be too much evaporation.
