Best Air Conditioner generator to get

Hi I have a Honda 1000kva  Genie that is so reliable, However the new Jayco has a roof mounted A/C. Its on the Journey Outback 17.55 . Everyone we have spoken too says nothing under 2.2kva to kick it in. Its got to be a four stroke for starters. Do any of you guys and gals have and use to power yours. We like free camping where we can.

Honda jumps from 2 to a 3kva which is just to big and heavy.unless they have got one in between that I don't know about yet.

Regards Hey Jim

Jim. I haven't recently looked at Hondas (or The Generator Shop web page - the best outfit to buy from) but Im sure last year they had a 2.2 or 2.3.

Im not familer with your a/c, but unless someone else can provide you comment, email the manufactuer of the unit (you should have been provided with their manual by the Dealer) or failing that, Jayco. They should know what size genie will run it.

One of the tricks is to get a new power lead for it that is the thickest cable you can get and not longer than 5 metres (otherwise you loose too much power), try not to let the van get too hot before you use it and run it on fan only if it is too hot. Then just adjust the cool temps by small increments. Don't try to take the temp down from 45o to 25o in one hit and turn off everything else - like your hot water system that will want to steal the power you need.

Most modern a/c's will run on a Honda 2 (and The Generator Shop does good deals on them) if you follow the guidelines above

Thanks Bruce,

I like my eu1000.I want to be able to run the lot in summer and winter. I saw last night on Ebay this vacuum cap that fits the top of  of the geni to extend running time from external boat fuel tank looks the go, if running extra hours as we have in the past with the camper in winter, to power our electie blankets.( getting older) so we are uping the anti to the Jayco Journey Outback.17.55 Will collect in December so ready for our retirement July 2016 OH YES at Last. Will look at the site you mentioned.

Thanks again.

Jim

Hey Jim. No...its caused by being married - I just cant understand the superior female race - just a dumb male and over the years Im just the skull I used to be - as a child I looked like the attached LOL

I'd phone The Generator Shop - theres one in each capital state and they really know genies - especially Hondas and will give you good advice about this gadget you've seen on E-Bay - youre sure its not a shower cap that Im selling haha
