Big decision. Going to Thargomindah, Eromanga, Quilpie, Windorah Jundah, Longreach. Any suggestions/warnings..... and anyone else going that way? Leaving St George today. Not in a hurry - 2 weeks at least to do it.

Last year we went from St George to Cunnamulla to eulo to Toompine to Quilpie to Windorah to Jundah to Stonehenge to Longreach , Good tar roads lot of single lane tar but very good wide edges , Don't know about Thargomindah and Eromanga , Cheap council camps at Windorah and Stonehenge
One of my favourite places. As already said, roads are good if only single lane. Not a lot of traffic but take care with oncoming vehicles. Roos are also plentiful even in daytime. Eromanga - No shops so make sure you have all the necessities. Visit the pub. Lovely old place and the publicans are great. Can get a great coffee there. Icecreams, lollies & Chips. Hot chips are also good. They have a museum which is very interesting and well worth checking out. You may have to get a key. Ask at the pub. There is also a memorial to all the old miners in the park. Its covered in opal. A good mural of the district as well. Yowah is also a must. Bore springs are there. Was going there this year but plans have changed. Do the loop. Not sure about the road from Windorah to Longreach. Check it out before you go. Was under the impression it was not sealed however, could be wrong.
The road from Windorah to Longreach is good to Stonehenge and there were road works in place between Stonehenge and Longreach which controlled by portable traffic lights found it good drive .We did do the detour into Yowah 27 klm in and out .
If you are looking for a nice CVP the Ilfracombe CVP on the Landsborough Hwy Is really nice and not far from Longreach. Old machinery museum across road and if memory serves me correct their famous happy hours should be on the go now. Very nice young couple run the place.

Explorers' Caravan Park, Thargo is First class and a nice clean town; even better, before you get to Thargo, is the Riverside Caravan Park, at Cunnamulla.
Important you phone ahead to book in both cases!!

Coming back that way from Longreach, Windorah, Quilpie etc. towards end of June. We were out on our trip to Cameron Corner last year and the caravan park at Thargomindah was great, as was the one at Quilpie.
