Here is a big surprise , i rang jims Test & tag and guess what $90.00 for the first 10 items, I just about crapped me dacks,I found someone that did it for $7.00 a lead ,after $90.00 I thought $7.00 was a good price. Cheers.
I can do it legally but I would not charge. Carry a packet of tags just in case I have to. If I charge for it, then I would need a contractors licence to do it in QLD.
It is not a matter of just test and tag ,the gentleman that did mine told me they have to log all these tag and test,s bye law ,the tag has his rego number & name and my name and date the job was done and when they have to be done again.

Technicly you have to have a record for both the customer and the Tester. It can be in a Log Book, a paper record or an electronic record. I use a formated spreadsheet that I can save as a PDF file for the customer and keep both the an electronic and printout for my own records. If a Tag is required then I charge $5 per lead or appliance, cheaper if there's a number to do. Happy to test only for free for people I meet on the road if I've got my gear out.
Really though, for the time it takes to test 1 cord/appliance, write the tag and record the info it sometimes make you feel your working for 3rd world wages at times. Not to mention having to keep your gear and self in compliance. Testing gear has to be tested every year at a cost of about $150 and I just did a refresher course in Perth which cost another $250. So it's an expensive "hobby" these days.
