Hey Wayne. There have been quite a few long posts in the past 4-5 months dealing with the question you raise and they attracted a lot of answers and solutions.
Try searching (in the blue line at the top of the Nomads screen "search" and see it anything comes up with Ibis and Honda 2 genie (you may have to try a few different word phrases to find the posts)
Some found their Ibis would work and others didn't with the Honda 2.
I have yet to try the same setup as you have.
Two suggestions were made a number of times and they were:
1. Don't let the van get too hot if you can avoid it before trying to cool it with your genie as power
2. Run the Ibis on fan only till the Honda settles in and then switch to cool - but don't try going from say 40o to 24o in one hit - small steps at a time or the Ibis will attempt to draw too much power causing the Honda to stop (and some reckon damage it)
3. Another person spoke to an auto air con specialist who told them to get the biggest diameter power cord which shouldn't be longer than 5 metres made up. Apparently the standard caravan cord is too long and power leaks out of cable - so short and fat lol

I have the Ibis 3 and a Honda 20i and both work well together. Like KFT said, don't use anything else on 240v while aircon is on. Just make sure the Gene is well serviced. Not often KFT is right Wayne He even stayed "On Topic"

Wayne - I agree with KFT (despite what Dougee says - KFC is always on topic LOL). Get a sparkie to do it. But be aware that many don't have caravan knowledge and forget/don't know you will need a 15 amp plug on one end of the extension cord.
I suggest you take your current cord with you when you go to the sparkie and show him, so he knows what is required plug wise
I recently had an external 15amp 240v power outlet installed at my house - and I know the sparkie well. He had to source it from a specialist wholesaler in the city and it took about a week to arrive

Hi Bruce, thanks for the advice re- 15 amp plug was aware would need same, interesting subject 240v Ac when I had own workshop it was mandated that all extension cables be tested for fittness, application and date tagged. Not so for non commercial use.

Welcome Wayne, ignore the banter and off topic stuff as Dogwe and KFT carry on about, its a great part of our forum. Did I tell you about the time I flew a jet aircraft and flew with the roulettes? OH, my bad back on subject. Lol
its a good thing to have as short 240 lead as you can, there is a nasty called voltage drop that can effect the performance of any lead. it has been mentioned that a 2.5mm squared cable is the go. The big green tool box (Bunnings) sells a blue 10 meter cable with 15 amp plugs (large earth pin) I paid $35 for mine and probably got ripped off.
As an ex electrician I test all my cables and appliances to ensure they comply, some caravan parks insist that at least the feeder cable, from their box to the van, has been tagged.
Enjoy this forum as all sorts of nomads get on here, we have a lot of fun and take the p1$$ rather often. It's fantastic to meet face to face out there in the wilds.

Phil C we have used well over 150 CPs and have never yet been asked for T and T on our lead. If so would not all leads from a retailer require a Tag ? I also test my leads regularly as well as having an RCD in our M/home. Your in depth knowledge is greatly appreciated on this forum.

Cheers KK, I'm pretty sure that according to the rules a less than 12 month old appliance or lead should not need a test. I tend to go the extreme and test everything, found a brand new Bunnings power board had a short from active to earth once, the board had been exposed to sea water at some time and corrosion had taken over the contacts and shorted the terminals. So all my new stuff gets a test.
As for the CPs that demand a test, we have had this experience only once at a big 4 CP, can't remember where but it was a pain so we didn't stay.
