hi all update well laptop went to in for repair not good news some thing badly wrong with windows itself not worth fixing he tried all the simple things but would not work on most of them so looks like a new one but thanks all for the help cheers snap
Cruising Cruze is right on the money with that one , transfer your data from laptop to external hard drive then reinstall windows and it should be all fixed. Easy peazey nice and easy.
Can you get into your computer to get the personal data off it to transfer to the new machine? Do you have enough storage to save it to? If you are on the road then you may be able to order these by mail - 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive - WD Elements 1TB Portable Hard Drive - (A word or warning, Avast shows Kogan as a threat site but it is OK to click on the keep going links on the pop-up and go into their site.)
Alternately JB-HiFi can supply similar storage.
If you can't get into Windows to do that you can use Windows PE to start up your computer and get access to the hard drive. You install it onto a flash drive and if you have set the BIOS of your computer to start from a drive in the USB ports the computer will fire up from the stick. You can configure it on a USB drive though it from - Download WinPE (Windows PE) or see it done here.

If you were on the Sunshine Coast I could get it sorted for you. Five years isn't all that long in the tooth for a laptop. It's probably just spat a memory module or some such, or could even be overheating.
In case it helps (closer), my mum repairs and deals in laptops and stuff (yeah, she's a champ at her age :p) and she's pretty much at Browns Plains in Brisbane.
