A friend has just purchased a Rav4 and the tow bar has been welded on. She has been told it is not supposed to be and is not safe. Any advice if this is true or not.
Thanks

Cannot see this being legal in a pink fit never seen one welded on anything always bolted I would be taking the car back to the dealer and getting my money back ( it's not fit for purpose ) as it should not have passed a roadworthy in my opinion but go to a garage that does roadworthy certificates and just ask he should be able to tell you what is legal or not for free .

There can be lots of welding on the tow bar. I find it hard to imagine the towbar being welded to the car. The car sub frame (rav4) is no more than pressed sheet metal.
Some photos would be interesting.
If it welded to the sub frame I wouldn't be hooking any thing to it.
Pita if you have the larger coupling ? Way back we had a horse float with larger coupling ..
Can I tell you how often it was fitted with the smaller ball? ,!
Danger ous !!! You learn how good the chains are ...
