probably about 7 or 8 o'clock. What you have to make sure of is that the awning goes over the top of the roller and not leave a trough for water to collect. I think that might be as clear as mud
Did you take the end of day light saving into consideration with you calculation David??
Nah! I would say the track slot should face directly at the ground so the flap overhangs where the annex wall threads through to help water and wind proof it. I don't have annex walls just shade walls so could be wrong. Not sure what time that would be though.

I am not all that technical myself and usually wont argue a point on setting up, however, when I am sure of something it is best to put my point across.
you have 3 grooves on the roller, one for the awning one for the curtain at the end of the awning and one for the wall.
As the video shows the wall groove should be at about 9 o'clock. My main argument is the groove where the awning is attached to the roller should be at the leading, outside edge, of the roller at about 1 or 2 o'clock. This ensures the water runs off the awning and does not pool against the roller. www.youtube.com/watch

Great video ... Wish my kakadu was as easy as that.
It doesn't use the anti flapper approach.
The walls attach to the awning using several of those eylets & toggle pins. Of course as the awning expands over time, they never match up. Water blows in thru the 'join' too. The eyelets tear out eventually too.
Terrible design.
Back to the original question. In my case the slot always points to the ground 6 O'clock Queensland time. This allows the awning roller support poles fit into their holes drilled in the roller. Don't know if that's right but I'll check it next time I set it up.
