While stitching a cut hand of a 75 year old farmer, whose hand was caught in the squeeze gate while working his cattle, the local Doctor struck up a conversation with the old man.

Eventually the topic got around to Politicians <as it invariably does these days>...and their role as leaders.

The old farmer said, "Well, as I see it, most politicians these days are "POST TURTLES".

Not being familiar with the term, the Doctor asked him what a Post Turtle was.

The old farmer said,  "When your driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a Post Turtle.

The old farmer saw the puzzled look on his Doctor's face so he continued to explain.

"You know he didn't get up there by himself,

He certainly doesn't belong up there,

He doesn't know what to do while he's up there,

He's elevated beyond his ability to function,

.....and you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put him up there to begin with!"

This is just about the most accurate description of a 'modern' Australian Politician I've ever heard.......

...and this is what they appear to believe....

They safely believe that nothing should be done for the first time...

They admire radicals a century after they are dead.

They stand for innovation, progress and new ideas,..but not just yet.

Law and Order to them is, they can lay down the Law and give the Orders.

Folk laugh at claims by hair restorers, yet believe election promises.

Under one Party it's 'Dog eat Dog'..under the other it's the reverse.

If one leaves your Party they are a renegade...if they join yours they are a convert.

Q: Why do they allow just one Monopolies Commission?

Poly Speak....the straightforward way in which they dodge an issue.

We should be grateful when looking at multiple candidates on a voting slip...that only one can be elected.

Progress may have been alright once, but it went on for too long.

And have you noticed...The explanation for any political stuff-up will be made by the Deputy or a stand-in inversely proportional down the ladder

to the seriousness of the disaster...

As one famous Politician remarked...in any Political Race always back the horse named 'self interest'.....
