I like the phone, but when you dial a number, it makes an irritatingly loud "ping" as every digit is pushed. Is there a way to stop this? The Nokia manual is no help.

Have you tried google? It says to go to settings then sounds or ringtones look for Key press and uncheck it. Hope this helps.

Try going into  "Setting > ringtones+sounds > key press"  and see if you can select volume, mute or change it there.
