morning all, can you help with info on rego of Motorhomes in Qld. Ours is due June .... How early can you have it done? Can the safety check be done outside of Qld as we will be travelling in June. can anyone recommend authorised repairer in S E qld who can do the check if it needs to be done in Qld. i understand a CTP is required so that is easy fixed on line. We have always done regos in NSW and as this rego is the first one post purchase for us in Qld obviously we need to make sure we can get it sorted wherever we are and after this one we will transfer it to NSW. I would phone Qld rego but I hate talking to machines!

Our experience is that, if you are over 4.5 tonne you have to have a yearly D.M.R check. Ours is 6 tonne and we have to comply, best to ring em or call in to sort it out.
And yes you can pay early, just gotta get an official willing to do a little extra work.
Cheers Gemmybob.

I have tried to pay Rego early in Queendland and was told can't pay until notice has been issued but now paying on line is a big help
Last year we were going out of Qld before the caravan rego was due. I was able to pay the rego at Qld transport 6 weeks prior to due date. They told me that a renewal notice would be sent, and disregard it.
I needed the label before leaving Qld. Label arrived before the rego renewal arrived by mail.
No problem now as labels are not used. Can pay online as you said.
Libby and Charlie. We have a 24 ft Jayco Conquest registered in Qld. It is 4490 kg. So drives on a car licence. We dont need a safety check or anything else each year. They just send the registration bill and we pay it. Plus there will be no more rego labels anymore. Not sure about a heavier vehicle. Under 4.5 tonne is seen to be a car.
cheers
Phil
Thanks everyone for your help ..... seems easy not having to have the safety check done - next step is to load her up and take it over the weighbridge before we head off after the Easter school holidays

Motor homes in Queensland over 4495 GVM must have a yearly certificate of inspection. This is independent of registration renewals. These can be done by TMR (traffic and main roads) by appointment or by an authorised inspection station approved for over 4995. Can be done up to 1 month before expiry. Personally I take our rig to a truck AIS and have never had any problems, plus it is usually cheaper and yr dealing with workers not bureaucrats!!
