12 volt water pump is now aerating the water

Hi, my pump has just started making the water it pumps all frothy and aerated. Do you think it is on it's last legs or could it be a leak in one of the pipes. It is maintaining pressure o.k. and seems to be working perfectly. I am on the verge of going away for a few months and wondered  if I should replace it before I go. Has anyone had this experience before.Cheers Lynne

I have that problem in my Motorhome when we use the tank to almost empty, seems to get air into the hoses. What works for me is fully turning on the tap that is the furtherest away from the pump, in my case the hand basin in the shower, I just turn it on til it stops spluttering to perge the air from the hoses.

Hope this helpss

Regards Steve.

Hi

I suspect you have a leak on the suction line, o rless liely in the pump.

Such can be very hard to find, as they rarely leak water

Suggest you check & tighten all connections on the suction line

Could be little non return valve in line cracked (happened to me) allowed slow leak of water between tap/tank. $3.00 replacement at Jayco dealer.

I get this aeration at every stop when travelling, seems worse if the level is low.

As said, running a tap til good water comes is the way.  I do this especially the hot tap prior to turning the HWS on, don't want the Hot Tank half full of air.
