I'm having problems using coordinates with my Garmin. Camps gives a coordinate of 17 08 18 S. The garmin want 3 digits on the last number (seconds I believe). I have put a 0 before & after the 18. I usually get close to where I want to be, but at the last minute the Garmin will want to take me bush.
With soooo many different models would be hard to say exactly, best way is to Google for a tutorial for your model. For example mine is a Nuvi so I googled "garmin nuvi gps coordinates" results gave me host of online tutorials both written and video.
Hope the helps
Regards Steve.

Also, you should be able to change the coordinate format in your Garmin via the settings menu. Have a read through the manual, or google for a copy online for your particular model if you don't have one.

I also have a portable garmin and had the same problem. Days end i went through the settings and changed the co-ordiantes format to suit..As mentioned above where Wikicamps goves a single digit you will add the 0 before it eg 36:05/instead of 5 into your Garmin unit etc..
I have a new to Tomtom go600 and it is a pain for adding cords, I go to google earth find the loc and then use their cords. It takes a bit of mucking around but works. You also get all the coords.

That'd be fine if you have phone reception, even if a little long winded way of doing it. It would be much easier just to change your coordinate format setup on you GPS to suit what you prefer.
