Can any one tell me what the AVan Erin is like, we think we have sold out Jayco and are looking at a 16' Avan Erin , are thy reliable any thing that thy are known to have trouble with, any help would be great
I was waiting to see if you got any replies before I replied.
Even though I had the Avan Camper I went and had a look at the big boys and girls before deciding on my Chief. I found the cabinetry etc not a lot different to the camper only bigger of course. So with that in mind steered clear as I found doors coming of hinges and drawers coming away from slides and all those sort of things in my Avan.
There are many Avan CV around both poptop and full CV so all a personal choice really I spose.
Whatever you decide make sure it all looks well constructed and going going to fall apart as soon as you drive out the gate. I stayed away from chipboard and tiny hinges.

Hey Cowboy7307, I bought an A-Van Erin, new in 2004, had it until 2010, did approx 40,000 klm, did Not give any major problems, however i will go along with Dougwe, re the carpentry, !! I did re-hinge a few of the cupboards, etc, and had some other Minor little problems, [ most vans will have Minor Hassles ! ]
HOWEVER, !! The dealer that I bought the Van from in Geelong was an absolute Ignorant and very rude man, [ There is a Different A-Van dealer in Geelong NOW !! and ALSO the A-VAN factory had an attitude, that matched the ''Then Geelong Dealer'' would not talk at all, !1 It was virtually a case of LOOK we have your Money and You have your Van !! so just P-ss - off !
That said, the Erin did serve me well , However when we up dated, A-Van Did NOT even go on the Look At List, !! They have a LOT to learn if they ever want Repeat business,, The Class of The A- Van Erin would be about the same as say the Jayco, or Olympic, 16 foot pop tops Same type of van same quality of Build, !! T5hey are the 3vans i compared before buying, IF i was doing the deal today, I would take the Olympic first, then Jayco, Then because of thier attitude, i would by pass the Avan altogether, !! What I am saying is If buying NEW, be very Wary, !! as for warranty etc, --However if buying secondhand, and you don't have to deal with the factory, then If in good condition, the ERIN should do the job for you, ! regards Dazren.
For all we use a van for, it will be a second hand one , out little Jayco rear door has done us well for the last 7 years ,but looking for a van with a better seating arrangement, Also one set up to 12v and with annex, its cheaper to buy than set up the van we have ,
but that said i still have to wait for the money to come for the Jayco
Thanks for the info
hahaha Dougwe, !!! SEE ! you can be RIGHT sometimes,
By the way, If this is '' OT '' then that's ok, !! Because I have been told it is Acceptable, to go off topic, as long as you put '' KFT'' at the end of your post !!
hi cowboy, I have an Avan Marion, dual axel, battery pack etc., it is great, have it for sale as we want to get an ensuite van, would go with Avan again as I recently needed a cover for the outside night light, emailed Avan for part number and they sent me the part within 5 days and did not ask for payment - so cannot agree with others who state they are hopeless to deal with (not my experience, but not doubting what they say) I am in WA and thought it was outstanding service. I have had no issue with anything rattling loose at all, have owned the van for 3 years, it is 2005 model, just want to have the shwr/wc so am selling what I consider is a good van for lower end of the market.
look for a well cared for van and go for it, good luck...
