Redcliffe Showgrounds update

I've been to the showgrounds today to enquire for family, and they ARE still open for campers. As long as there's nothing else going on. As was the recent Caravan & Camping Show.

It is $32 a night for a powered site and $24 for unpowered. You MUST phone first.

Redcliffe A.H. & i Society inc.

Email: info@redcliffeshow.org.au

Yes, I'll also put this in the relevant section. wink

A powered site at Scarborough holiday Village is $38 off peak, Bell Caravan Park at Clontarf is a council park and the same price as the showgrounds.

There is a lot of room at the showgrounds, which would be a point above Bells.

Personally, I wouldn't use them because I'm one person and I begrudge paying for two.

It could be more about the space BG

unlike the sardine parks that very likely charge more than that

these days we tend to look more for the space than anything else and we don't mind paying for it.

thanks Beth
appreciate you letting us know

I agree. I don't know if there are any free or cheaper camps in the area.

There are lots of parks around the Peninsula, and I've seen a couple of Coasters in the carparks. There's also the public carpark across the road from me. biggrin

That will be my difficulty when I get down there. Where to park the van. Must remember to get friend Rayner's address, she can't be too far from you.

Whilst not on the coast and about 45k from Redcliffe (acording to Google Maps)  is Samford showgrounds we stay there whenever we need to go to the Brisbane Area, Last time we were there was $25 a night for powered site. For us they are dog friendly and whilst dogs must be on a lead at all times, if you talk nicely to the caretaker he'll often allow you to exercise your dog off lead on the arena which is fully fenced.  Its a very quite place and very well maintained which is a credit to the onsite caretakers. Note: You need to book first by phoning the number below.

From the Website:

Samford Showgrounds offer powered sites, water supply, showers and toilets. There is ample space for big rig caravans through to smaller campers. Pets are allowed.

For caravan and camping site bookings, please contact our Caretakers on 3289 7057.

And Scarborough Village right on the water at the Bay side .

The Seventh Day Adventists grounds in Kalangur have a small (probably 20 vans) power and water, toilets and showers, $120 a week. Think it is Gympie Road Kalangar or Dakabin (my friend tells me). Pine Rivers Showgrounds - Gympie Road, Lawnton - Power/water $20 night, very secure, keys to showers and toilets, and they lock the gates every night (your key opens the gate as well). Caretakers on site..

Yep - agree with Oma there re Pine Rivers - nice atmosphere, lovely caretakers, clean amenities. Close to good shopping. Fruit market across the road is excellent.

Not far Marj, Clontarf is still on the Peninsula. Pam's planning a visit too. It'd be great if you came at the same time.

It's been so long since I posted, I forgot how a thread takes off in all directions. I was particularly looking for places on the Redcliffe Peninsula for anyone who wants to visit me...family, friends, as well as GN's.

Brickies, I would say you're right about Scarborough Holiday Village. It looks very nice from outside. AND within walking distance of the famous Morgan's Seafood. biggrin

It appears that some of the show grounds are trying to cash in on the big bucks.
That prices of some are so far over the top, why would one bother.
A chance for the Show societies to make a few bonus $$$ but again they appear to be to hungry.
Will not get my support for that $$$$

Brickies, I was considering Redcliffe showgrounds but after comparing prices and facilities it seems like a no-brainer to me too. I'll be booking Scarborough Village.

Cheers.

Smart move Travel Bug , I stayed a Redcliffe waiting to get into Scarborough Village , It is a long way from anything have to drive everywhere and the company at the showgrounds is not all ways the best . Scarborough Village is well run park right on the bay coffee shop at the entry to the park nice Yacht club next door Morgan seafood a short walk away plenty to kept you amused . the park has drive through site and concrete annex slab , And if you like to have a fish it right outside the park . And only $6 a night more and a well run park .
