My brother picked up his new Millard Xtrack Caravan on Monday 9th from Camden Caravans in Camden NSW. He had to wait 3 hrs for the dealer to repair faulty wiring for the solar panels and had to fit the external table to the van. The rubber seal around the toolbox was split and will need replacement (this was noted and photographed).
He is currently in Mudgee NSW for the weekend and has found the following problems...in summary:
Screen door will not close correctly.
The tool box compartment has not been sealed between the gas bottle section and tool section.
Plug in the generator box missing.
The location of the breakaway battery prevents removal of the access panel on the battery charger.
ESC cable not secured to A-frame of caravan.
No toilet roll holder fitted in toilet/shower combo.
No shower flange fitted as per fitting instructions shown in Dometic toilet installation manual, page 7, fig 6. allowing shower water to flow under the toilet and onto the ground and not flowing down the shower drain outlet.
The shower floor appears not to be level causing water away from the floor drain.
His order was for a 4" chassis full chassis however on delivery it has been found it has a 6" chassis fitted up to the axle where it has been fitted with a 4" chassis welded onto a 6" chassis, this plus the location of the water tank appears to have caused the ball weight to be 260kg's which is 10kg's above his permitted vehicle ball weight. This overweight prevents any additional items to be placed in the toolbox and the front tunnel.
The worst of it is that tales such as this are not uncommon and they're not restricted to a single manufacturer and its not as if Aussie designed and manufactured is any cheaper than imported stuff. There's a couple of threads on this site discussing these matters and some very explicit threads on other caravaning and RV forums.
Migra, you might be glad not to have the dunny roll on the wall in a shower/toilet combo... a lot of people complain the shower wets it!
Good luck with everything else, I reckon you need a refund and start again!
My Coromal is just as bad with cladding all come loose , shower drain in position that won't drain,
a/c that I had to replace because it wasn't big enough to cool the van.My mate bought the same 6.35mt.
van the same week as I did and he has had more problems than me with leaking roof (ceiling replaced)
and 2 x hws as well as 2 new boot lids as well as other various problems.
What is going on with all these manufacturers (too many) isn't there a regulator keeping an eye on these
shoddy outfits. It shouldn't be just cost cutting because my van cost $60k two years ago and to replace it
today is around $80k
I think it is time the industry had a big shake-up after talking to a lot of consumers mine is not an isolated
case, and there are a lot of unhappy caravanners out there.
They could start with giving 3yr.warranties for example
