My Truma gas/electric unit has decided to leak water from the condensation outlet and is sometimes rusty,so a new tank is required ,but I think it's best to buy a complete new unit(current unit is 6 years old).Has any one bought one, what's the best price and who is the best retailer to buy from?.................cheers Peter.

Three pick up points which will save you shipping. Good to deal with. Cheapest and I fitted mine no worries. I did not change out all components as this was not nessasary I had same issue as you.
old one waiting on someone who can silver solder braise stainless.
I think you would be better off with a suburban, about the same price fitted.
I also have a Truma 2yo and just waiting for it to go.My mate has replaced
two also 2yo and recently fitted a Suburban that seems to have fixed his
problem.I had a Suburban on my last van for 6yrs and I just can't imagine
why Coromal would go for an inferior product, cheapness I suspect.
I'm a little confused re the negativity re the Truma HWS units.
We have a 14 litre gas/electric unit, was installed in 2007 and has never missed a beat, brilliant.
One of the advantages the Truma has over the Suburban is the fact that they have a stainless tank (don't rust out) and no need for a sacrificial anode that need regular changing.
I am also confused about Truma, after speaking to the Truma service department ,I was told that some boilers do leak after a while usually caused by a pin hole or CORROSION for various reasons. Not good for a unit that is only five years old.I thought the idea of using stainless steel(SS) was it doesn't rust(well a good grade of stainless steel)So what's the point of all the sales pitch of using SS when their quality control is not up to scratch, either not checking the welds properly or using low grade SS.I have decided to remove the boiler and try to get the leak welded ,if unable to repair I will buy a complete unit and keep the old fittings as spares.I'm starting to realise a lot of RV equipment and accessories are cheap quality at over inflated prices. $975 for a 14 litre hot water unit for the RV against $1400 for 315 litre electric /solar hot water unit.I have considered changing to another brand of unit ,but that will require new gas work and cutting a bigger hole in the side of the motor home that may not hide the existing hole. cheers Peter.

I have had two Truma Hot water services. Both rusted out. Spoke with Truma and they said "Bore" water will rust them out. I now have a Suburban. No problems. Can I suggest you check out this website Interesting product.

Thank you for all of your replies,I bought a complete Truma unit to replace the faulty tank.I now have a few spare fittings but you never know,I might need them one day.The cost was $890 from Camec in Dandenong, the dearest price I saw on the internet was $1126,so it pays to shop around.Just waiting for the refitting of the gas pipe and the certificate.......cheers Peter.

Thanks Santa,I would be happy too.I'm disappointed the original unit lasted a short time, being stainless steel it should last years, obviously there is a weakness in their construction, poor grade of stainless steel or electrolysis (caused by dissimilar metals). I have noticed a tendency towards the dual gas and electric models being prone to the rusting problem, there seems to be less problems with the gas only models......cheers Peter .
