Grandparents - what is this toy?

Picked this up yesterday at the Hospice sale only because it was $2 and looked to be both fun and dangerous!  No one there knew how it worked or had previously seen one although there must have been a few made, This one has had lots of use but it still seems serviceable. The grandkids all love fun and the more dangerous the better it is - this is perfect but only if someone can tell us it's name or how to ride one.

The wheels are roller skate types and the front wheel steers...no brakes.

Anyone have any clues?

Thanks

I think the fact that someone has added the stabiliser bar out to one side indicates how hairy it is to ride. I think it is a skate board that can turn sharper. Check where the nearest hospital emergency is before you attempt to ride.

Yikes, I saw a kid on one of these a few months ago and wondered what the heck is that. Then I watch him for a few moments and wow I wish I had one.

They use their legs to push and pull the board and outrigger to propel themselves at a fair clip.

I'm asking Santa for one.

My daughter had one many years ago, well over 20 years. You actually kneel on it and hold onto that bar. Only one knee on it and the other leg doing all the walk. Great for wheel spins.

Thanks fellas - I'll let the g'kids loose on it and see what they can work out. I know I'll be blamed for the cuts and bruises but that's life.
Most of the fun in being a kid is gone - just last week I was dropping a grade 1 g'kid off at his classroom and as we were early I asked him to show me their chook run and playground setup - we had fun for a few minutes and then "Miss XXXX" came out and admonished me, telling me in no uncertain terms that the children must not play in the playground before school. Then she added that young Wyatt had started a game with the other grade 1's pretending to shoot red indians.....also not approved. We've lost it.

Regards

Couldn't trust those twins of yours Doug, reckon my scalp might end up hanging of one of their belts....what a way to go.

Found a pic of you and the twins after a raiding party looking pretty pleased:
