What they also do is have increasing numbers of specials where you must use your loyalty card to get the special - otherwise it's full price.
Re their service(?) stations - our local Woolies usually has one lady at the register monitoring 10 bowsers - she also has to do all the other work like changeing fuel prices on the board by hand, cleaning rubbish etc. Securitywise it must be a nightmare for her. You can bet your bottom dollar she is only on award wages as well. Wonder what the Woolies CEO gets?
Finally completely off topic (sorry) but cannot by Aussie grown pineapple in Woolies - Golden Circle have it in their branded tins but it is grown in Indonesia! End of rant.
Regarding Woolworths I think on the mainland it's always been the case that the fuel discount goes onto the loyalty card, not the receipt. But the minimum spend is $30.00 or no discount. In Tasmania, they have a different system, which I won't try to explain, but it's called Frequent Shopper Card and the fuel discount is on the bottom of the receipt.

Since light travels faster than sound, some people appear bright until you hear them speak.
I got a docket at Woolies today in SEQld - I think if you use a loyalty card then the fuel discount goes on the card, if you don't use a loyalty card then you get the printed one on your shopping receipt.

I spent $140.00 at Wollies a couple of days ago and all that was on the bottom of my shopping receipt, was an offer of a second bottle of cheap wine for half price, that is if I bought the first one at "over the hill price" top price.
Well they've lost another Customer, Can't wait for Aldi to open here in Perth, in the mean time, there are plenty of other Super Markets that will be getting my hard earned Pension in future. !!!
Won't be Long, and Coles / Woolies, will finally put an end to The Independent Suppliers, and then you will still get your ''Shopper'' discount, HOWEVER it will be Off a Highly Inflated Pump Price, That Coles/ Woolies, agree on, !! As there will be NO INDEPENDENTS, to keep the Bas--rds Honest
We're in Perth and Coles (as at yesterday) still have the fuel discount voucher attached to the till receipt - if you spend more than $30 - otherwise no discount. That's always been the case
With Woolies, it you give them your loyality card - it is "credited" to that. If you don't have a card, the same thing happens as Coles.
I think there was a problem when you got your receipt Jim, or perhaps you spent under $30?

The amazing things you see when nomading Australia
It's been publicised Woolworths & Coles are concerned about the growth of Aldi. American Giant Costco is opening in Australia. Another good online grocery source is Kogan. Check it out:

You're dead right Bruce and Bev, there is a petrol discount voucher still attached to the Coles docket,
We went shopping this morning and spent well over the minimum amount of $30.00 and there was the discount still attached to their docket.
it seems it is only Woolworths that have stopped the vouchers on their dockets, we have found that it is cheaper to shop at Coles anyway, so that's where we will blow our hard earned Pension from now on.

The discounts I've seen are for $0.04 per litre - 4 cents. If you put 100 litres of fuel into your car you would save $4.00 - that's a cup of coffee. How many vehicles have a fuel capacity of 100 or more litres and is it worth the messing around to get this really minor saving. In my opinion no.
I do not support the big two as the 4 cent discount is often off an inflated price anyway we have a local independent and a 7/11 close by and I always get a good feeling in supporting these servos and 4cents per litre is really an insignificant amount.

JRH, D and D, and aussietraveller , Have hit the nail on the head, By supporting this Shopper Docker, [ trap ] the savings are Minimal, ! Coles/Woolies objective, is to force the Independents out of business, And to achieve this objective, they will give you very few $$ savings now, !! -- Knowing full well that once the Independents are gone,, They can charge whatever they like, and recoup those $$$ Back many times over, Good for them ! BUT very Bad for us, longterm,
Travelling the way we do, we rarely get to see a Woolies or Coles, but prefer to shop where the locals shop... Save your fuel dockets from wherever. As long as the docket is no more than a month old, hand them over at IGA, and you get your 4c per litre (up to 80 litres) off the shopping bill (if you spend over $30.00) Even if you have already received your 4c off at the majors... If you have more than 80 litres, you can save the docket and use the balance next time you shop.
Here is another even better; We went to a produce/f&vstall/fuel stop on the Warrego Highway near Hattonvale, Qld. Spend more than $20.00 on F&V or produce, and get 4c litre off you fuel. Go to one of the local IGAs (Rosewood or Laidley) shop for the rest of your groceries, and show them the docket and get a further 4c per litre off (up to 80 litres)
