Recaulking Motorhome


1. My Motorhome has gaps, been advised needs recaulking, i went to Bunnings, Sika Flex Fix, has one for fibreglass., its a sealant, just need assurance its ok to use???

2. The white rubbery tape that hides the joins in the ceiling is coming off, can you tell me what its called?? Where can I buy it. Hope you can help thanx Fran

Fran, I see no reason why sikaflex will not do the job. It is a high quality sealant.

As for the "white rubbery tape", are you sure its not plastic joiner strips? They use these to join lining togeter in caravans and I assume motorhomes are similar. If so you should be able to get them at the BigB hardware store. If rubber, maybe try Clark Rubber.

There are lots of Sikaflex grades. The one you need is "Sikaflex Pro".

The tape is possibly more for aesthetic reasons? You could run the tape over the Siko flex before it dries?
I have used acrylic paint and clear coat to give extra sealing .. It dries fast and can be used in your driveway..
If not there's marine clear coat at Bunnings for a non porus protection..

Thanx to all for your input., found the tape at bunnings., was able to redo the weather strip on Athena's door also., and I'm proud to say, today I recaulked the "seams", feels great to do it myself., only problem, when pulling down the gorilla ladder it came down to fast, my face got in the way., LOL., am a bit sore., hope I don't get black eyes., have a lump on my head.,

But hay, with your help I achieved sonething I never thought in my wildest dreams I could do., Thankyou all again - Fran.  "sorry if I posted in wrong thread" !!!!
