Back to the Gold Coast.

Interesting Tuesday, left Nanango early and made arrangements to meet Rod (Rover) enroute to Boonah at Kilcoy for a discussion about internet at Wuruma the result of which had me ordering

TELSTRA 4G MY POCKET WIFI ULTIMATE NETGEAR AirCard 785S 5GB DATA 30 DAYS EXPIRY

TELSTRA 4G MY POCKET WIFI ULTIMATE NETGEAR AirCard 785S 5GB DATA 30 DAYS EXPIRY

and a patch lead for my Telstra T69 phone

MS147 Patch CableAntenna Patch Cable MS-147 2560 Code: CAL2560

Category: Antennas for  Mobile Phones>Telstra (ZTE)>Telstra T96

Rod has investigated carefully the internet reception at Wuruma and found that the best results can be obtained using the above with my new 5.7 mtr. multidirectional telescopic antenna, so here goes. Will be there within a couple weeks and want to get reception at the water edge. Why the water's edge? 'cos if I can the idea is to buy a kayak and spend a few months by the dam then later a few more months by the lake at Greens.

We went from Kilcoy to Ipswich via Somerset and Wivenhoe dams, a beautiful drive with water views and green hilly grasslands. Then on the Boonah to catch up with Billeee and Jules, we have booked in to the showgrounds for 3 nights. Powered site for $54 for 2 over 3 nights not my usual camping style but good to catch up with B and J again.

Had a good day today Wednesday, Billeee and Jules took us out for a drive up to Mount French's Lookout. What views around 180 degrees panoramic overlooking Cunninghams Gap at one side and Ipswich at the other. No way would my bus get up to the lookout, very steep with sharp corners. We then went down into Boonah after and had lunch at one of the pubs. Started on the shower holder after a walk into Mitre 10 to buy the necessaries expect to finish it tomorrow. Spent ages getting the TV set up for June to watch tonight no problems excellent pictures on all channels.

Thursday and worked all day, the shower space went up easy but the clips to hold it down whilst travelling took some effort. The All Fix it glue didn't work and super glue didn't either so I have rivetted the 4 clips in place and even then the frame popped out from the clips, Jules had the right idea use cable ties to hold the clips closed and now all is well, I hope, will be looking carefully tomorrow after driving some kms to see if it is still in place. The Coleman Hot Water on Demand will get a work out.

The balance of the day was taken up with packing stuff away and pulling down the TV antenna, had to return to Mitre 10 to take back some shower curtain clips. The clips supplied looked like they would break if opened sufficiently to slip over the pvc pipe so I returned them in favout of metal ones that easily slip over the pipe and hold the shower curtain with the other clip. Have taken photos of the unit minus the shower curtain both erected and clipped to the bus. So no TV tonight and all packed up ready for a flying start tomorrow.

Friday and off early, cyclone Marcia has deposited lots of rain but no flooding between Boonah and the Gold Coast arrived by 9am to collect the cat from the cattery then across to collect my new mattress from Makin' Mattresses. All good and arrived back to Currumbin with lots to do, been away for 2 weeks so there was lots of unpacking and making up the new bed made to measure to fit the coaster. Had the optometrist appointment to replace the glasses lost on the tour, Ordered them from Zenni Optical on line     . http://www.zennioptical.com/?gclid=COqao4DV8cMCFReWvQod2JEAwg      John

I bought the 4G Wifi from eBay and cost $129 (Mobifones), there are cheaper but this one is the ultimate version.

The patch lead allows the phone to connect to the antenna, I have one to connect the wifi.

As to how it will work time will tell but I expect to be there before you and will post about reception.

Rod has had good results with 4G and I am hopeful by the dam but definitely would get it up where Roy was camped.

Look forward to catching up again,

CYA John
