Why do we have Specific Threads for people to post in to make it easy to find Topics, when nobody bothers to use them ?  These days, anything and everything is being posted here.   Bit silly, if you want to find something months down the track.

Cheers,

Sheba.

Amen to that!, the General Forum seems to be General, I Digress, and Just Joking all rolled into one to name but a few of the sub forums. Probably a major reason why I dont bother to post much these days.

Yep - youre so right Sheba. Especially useful camp info being put here rather than under the State listing so others can find it fairly easily months later.

I got a bit annoyed when someone yesterday posted a semi tech question on this site and I replied to it (having done what he could have done to get the info by googling it and searching for suppliers), only then to go to the Tech page and find the same post there!!! And that was by a senior Forum member - I was not happy

Spot on Sheba.

There's even a thread on here right now with the heading Road Conditions. furious

In some forums the moderators move them.

Some of the posters are fairly new, and don't realise that there are other "sub forums", maybe. If I welcome someone in the introduction sub forum, I try to inform them regarding the other sub forums, and where to post, or I mention in reply to their post that the subject might get more response in the appropriate sub forum.

Hi all,
Thanks for the feedback. As mentioned, we have created subforums for different kinds of topics so that members and guests can find the sorts of things that they would like to read or reply to. If members could try to find the correct subforum to post their message in, it would be great.  If anyone feels that a topic should be in a different forum than it currently appears, please PM me.
Having said all of that, not all topics are easily 'categorised', and there inevitably will be threads that could go in several different subforums depending on interpretation. Again, I would ask anyone who has issues with how things are done on our forum to send me a PM.

I don't disagree but would like to point out that on the phone it is very hard at times to access the different sub forums let alone post in the correct ones. That is why I have mine set to most recent when checking the forum. Does mean that I have to scroll through a bit of stuff that doesn't interest me but at least I can see everything that way.

On the phone you can't even put in paragraphs even though it shows you have when you write a post it still posts it all in one block, that is why a few of my posts look like I have no English skills at all.

That could explain why some of things are in the wrong areas, I only have computer access while at work, we don't have a computer of any type at home or while we are away, we just use our phones for web access.

Appreciate that Woolly, that's composing a message, not as Sheba said, posting a message in wrong areas. Maybe Gibb and Beeman should visit and check a few eyes/glasses.

I dont think it is a fault of the members here
It happened to me a few times that you want to start something and you do it in the wrong section

for us there is no way to correct it or to delete the part you wrote

this is maybe to harsh to say it this way but that are my findings

Cheers John

 Yes there is John.

Rewrite it in the correct place, then go back to the original, delete what you have written by clicking on Edit and put in it's place "Transferred to ......... sub forum."

Other forums have the webmaster/admin move the thread to the correct section. It seems this one only wants to close/lock threads that are 'not in the interest of others' or 'unappropriate'.

I think Cindy has a busy time with the forum and related matters Larry without having to move threads around the place IMO.

I personally don't care where people put things except I do think news items/links should be in "I digress" but certainly don't let it bother me.

I think Sheba only raised this issue, because its become so frequent in the past few weeks.......people will always post in the wrong threads - they may be new or simply don't realize theyre in the wrong one - I think most of us accept this and don't gripe.

The only time I get annoyed with the wrong thread used is 1) people posting the same message in several threads b) give us all some really good CP or free camp area and don't put it in the correct area, which means that finding it again a few months later is an impossible task

That's exactly what I meant.

So those of us who have used this forum longer can be helpful and suggest to a new poster that they put their post in the right section and give a reason (such as finding it later). If it's done nicely it should cause no harm.

I have done that too, neilnruth.  Quite a lot.  And I'm not the only one.  Then I go for months and months biting my tongue [Finger?] biggrinbiggrinbiggrin 'till I get too fed up, and do this again.

Surely, if any-one really looked at the General Forum Page, they would get the idea pretty quickly.  I know I didn't need any-one to tell me what the different threads [sub-forums] were all about.  And I'm no Genius.  It's not that difficult to work out.

Cheers,

Sheba.

Thanks, everyone for your input.  It does help both in terms of easily finding what you're interested in reading and in searching for information later on if everyone labels their posts properly and if they put them in the most relevant subforum.
If anyone has any issues with current posts and their location or questions/comments/suggestions about the forum itself, please drop me a PM.  I will close this now as this topic's had a good airing.
