How about that. In another part (general) of the forum there is a thread bemoaning the Americanisation of our language but here we are embracing an over commercialised American tradition

Mmmmmm, I have never recognised Valentines Day as I always showed/told my love to my late wife and didn't need one day in a year to tell her.

I know, soppy isn't it smile

Being right will not protect you.

It is about women being able to show other women that they are valued*.  So one could easily imagine it would be popular in the US of A and catching on here as well.  Since the media is desperate for cheap 'news' for those daytime 'human interest' talking head fests are devoted to 'women's interest issues' and they are finding an infinite number of ways that the 'value' of women should be shown - usually via the wallet.

*One out of season flower (400mm or longer, size matters) delivered to her by a courier IN FRONT OF HER FRIENDS is worth more than a bucketful of flowers given at home.

I sense that the going rate is being ratcheted up to a restaurant meal# as well as the plant reproductive organs.

#Do advise m'lady well in advance so she can get herself sorted and make sure her friends are advised.

Going off to find a concrete bunker somewhere. biggrin

Thankyou for the kind gesture, normally I don't believe in Valentines day., over marketed for florists to up their prices...., but that didn't stop me from treating myself this morning.

Yes I went to Aldi and bought a power pack with a compressor in it and a you beaut floor matting., oooh how romantic., w00t.gifxd.gif

Mmmm, maybe plug a nice soft light into your new power pack, sit in the middle of your new matting with a strawberry and glass of bubbly, Fran.

I believe that Valentines Day is a British tradition.

Actually it looks like it goes right back to the middle ages and beyond but there is no arguing the Americans have adopted it

Lyn got flowers, again.  By that, I mean that I took a photo of some flowers with the phone camera, and texted it to her.

It's the thought that counts, eh........
