Hose tap fittings;

Don't loose your flat rubber washer from the tap hose tail as you can no longer buy these flat rubbers, throw unit away & replace with a new one.

I've just checked all over town ; bunnings had their last two repair kits & $5.50 each, two flat washers & two o'rings yet you can buy a complete tail for $2.50

I also checked Ebay, none there either but you can buy a bulk bag of 22 tails for $1.40 each.

These rubbers also fit the black poly screw on tails as well.

Just more forced throw away system.

Howdy Justcrusin01,

I'm just thinking it wouldn't be too hard to knock out a couple from some sheet rubber either with a big punch or hole cutter ?

But you are spot on with your comments - we are in a "designed obsolescence" society.

You can't get the parts but have to buy the whole unit = it makes the money wheel go round and round.

cheers TG.

My local hardware store sell them loose at a bulk price as well. they also have bulk O rings even the bulk washing machine type with a stainless mesh filter, all loose and in bulk.

Bunnings are not the only hardware group, thank goodness for mitre 10 with real sales people and real service.

Is that why there are lots of caravan park taps with heaps of white plumbers tape on them?

I use a piece of old Leather (Old Shoe tongue, end of an old belt or similar) and cut it to fit.
They used to be leather in the old days and it works very well.

Cheers

Hi
why don't you all use Hoselink we never have a problem with them you can always get what you need and our hoses never blow of the tap.

I went this afternoon to Bunning in the section where they have the tap connection

I turned up with a small metal hook to remove the rubber rings

Lady from Bunnings came up to me and asked me what are you doing

I told her about my mate Jim ( justcrusin01 ) that the rings where hard to get by ( BTW I tough it was very easy )

She completely understood

So Jim when I've got time  I will post them to you biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Regards John
