Phillip Island

Hi All,

We will be at Phillip Island in the next week or so and are looking for low cost camping. There are two of us travelling in two camper vans and we have our own power, shower and toilet. We would like to stay a week or two or longer and ideally would like to find a privately owned property where we can park overnight.

Anyone know of anything available?

Regards

Sean smile

Hey Dougwe whats the name of the c/p not far from the Island that you have early last year told people about?

It was a low cost one on the main land to the east, I think.

Coalfields Caravan Park, Radar. It's in Wonthaggi about 20 mins from The Island. Good base for South Gippsland region.

DO NOT go to Miners Rest.

Coalfields......03 5672 1798. Tell Margaret, Doug sent you. One of two things will happen, you will be well looked after or shown the exit. I reckon you will be well looked after.

Enjoy the area Sean.

You could check out Powlett River which is between the Island & Wonthaggi. Haven't been there for some years but it was a pleasant spot - bush setting, can have an open fire & I think dog friendly. Not sure of costs but well worth investigating.

Regards

Peter

We also used to stay at Powlett river.

A basic park with some powered sites snuggled down under the tea trees and best of all a tunnel walkway down to the river mouth.

Not sure if it's still there but I have very fond memories of that park.
