Bushfire EMERGENCY WARNING for Northcliffe in the Shire of Manjimup

A bushfire EMERGENCY WARNING is in place for people east and south east of Northcliffe, in the Shire of Manjimup, in an area bounded by Middleton Road, Bannister Road, Preston Road, Dog Road, Deeside Coast Road, Chesapeake Road, Windy Harbour Road and Wheatley Coast Road.
The bushfire remains at emergency level as the fire remains out of control and unpredictable. You are in danger and need to act immediately to survive. There is a threat to lives and homes. All roads within the area are unsafe, avoid this area. The fire started in Shannon National Park as a result of a lightning strike. There is a lot of smoke and drivers are urged to drive with extreme caution.
WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING: Approximately 95 firefighters from DFES, Department of Parks and Wildlife and local volunteer bushfire brigades are on the scene. 60 support personnel are assisting fire crews. Firefighters are working to protect life and property within and adjoining the fire area, and establishing containment lines aiming to contain the fire to the east of Windy Harbour Road and south east of Northcliffe town site. Aerial support is again assisting ground crews with fire suppression and intelligence gathering. Crews from SES, WA Police, and the Forest Products Commission are also assisting at the scene.
EXTRA INFORMATION: The fire was reported at 10am on Friday 30 January 2015 and currently there has been approximately 20,000 hectares burnt.
