I'm looking for a new on roof auto satelite system that is reliable & not Chinese, but does not cost a fortune. To be fitted to a Winnebago Leisure Seeker motorhome. There are many on Google, but most are in WA or Qld & we live in Adelaide. I am not up with this type of thing & would appreciate any advice as to what is good & what is not. We are mainly black road travelers who avoid dirt or coregated roads. I can easily install it myself, but what to buy is my issue. Thanks folks, Baggie.
Satking and vansat are both great systems,if installing yourself make you use hdmi cables instead of RCA leads, and seal any holes in the roof using Dicor
If you want TV up through the centre then make sure it has an 85 cm dish. Smaller dishes are OK along the east coast and SW WA but the signal is considerably weaker in between.

Hi Baggie. about 6 months ago we purchased a Vansat Bluestar auto system. Works great. They now have a smaller size ( budget priced) at $2300. You can self instal either. Not as hard as you think. The 1 we bought gets signal all over Aus. So far anyway.
if you going west you'll need the 85 cm dish as the signal isn't as good as elsewhere. Got the thumbs up from me.
oh, and for $120.00 they'll have it at your front door.
That sounds great Laurie, how does it perform under trees etc, I've heard that they have problems if under or blocked by trees. Or is this just an old wives tale.
All satellite systems need a clear view of the sky in the direction the satellite is actually located. If you do not have this clear signal path then reception will suffer considerably.

Hi Baggie. I have had it in shaded areas and works fine. As with anything satelite you have to have a line of sight to satelite or it won't work.i can dig up a phone number if you want.
Thanks to you all for all your information on Sat systems, they all have been very helpful. As soon as the Caravan & Camping show is done here in Adelaide I will seek out a bargain
from one of the suppliers. Thanks again folks for your valuable help. Baggie
