Freight Van from Sydney to Perth

G'day All,

I need to have my van taken to Perth from Sydney as I cannot get time away at the moment. Has anyone used any transport companies that they would recommend?

Cheers for any help in advance, Boyd

Just a thought but, if your van is a Jayco, I think they ship their vans from Melbourne to Perth, maybe you could talk to them.

Gday...

Many trucking companies are always looking for backloads from west to east and vice versa. Rates are usually very good.

Try some of the companies this google search brought up - https://www.google.com.au/#q=where+can+I+find+a+backload

Cheers - John

Height limits on the train. Usually only cars I think.

Yes NeilandRuth are correct about height restrictions on the train. We couldn't even take our Landcruiser as it was too high. The problem is between Sydney and Adelaide. I know that you can pay a driver to take motorhomes interstate, not sure if it applies to vans.

I don't understand the height limit on the train, they take semis after all.

Hi,

The problems out of Sydney re: height limits is (I understand) going through the tunnels over the Blue Mountains. Having lived up in Lithgow, I'm pretty sure that is what you will find it is.

Cheers

It's not the height of the tunnels that is the problem, it's the height of the 1500v overhead wiring from Sydney to Lithgow - the wiring is fixed at a fairly small range of heights from lowest to highest to suit the collection pantographs on the electric stock, BUT you still need to maintain a MINIMUM clearance to prevent electric flash-over from the 1500v wiring to the 'objects' loaded on the wagons.

Just a thought maybe someone would enjoy a drive over there towing your van or taking your car and van over for a fee that would cover some of their cost to get back.

Post when you would like it done, I may like to do it for you as I have time and like a bit of adventure.

I like to know more, give us some more details. Ralph

We had the misfortune of having to freight a friends van from Perth to Sydney after the Husband suffered a major medical problem in Geraldton and was air ambulanced to Perth. My wife drove their landcruiser home whilst I drove our unit back.We used a trucking company from Perth who went out of their way to help us.The van was kept undercover and secure in Sydney until we arrived back from Perth to collect it. The company was Watsons Express their Sydney depot is at Villawood.Hope this might help.
