Any one visiting the South West Rocks & general area in NSW; there's a new cop in the town & nothing is off limits. He's being a real pig & booking any one & every one for any thing he can come up with.
At the weekend he tried to book a guy at the boat ramp , he had removed the removable tail light board from his boat as to be able to launch his boat; tried to book him for no lights as reversed down a boat ramp. A very heated debate took place & he was out numbered so let him go with a warning; I would guess the victim is now a marked man being watched ready for another day.
The word is all over town here; I even heard about it from SWR local two hrs before we even got home.
As well the shackle & chain are on his hit list; cross your T's & dot the I's or else.
As for all this chain & shackle business I would be checking his qualifacations; Remember about three mths back I had a lengthy discussion with a Highway Patrol about this issue which I posted here.
He said he knew nothing about all these blitzes & fines as local Hwy Patrol have nothing to do with it & didnt know it was happening. He said that any of that type of checking was done by heavy transport dep out of the cities; & that local Hwy cops do not have engineering qualifactions to judge what is right or wrong in this field.
So just how much are these blokes getting away with?? filles their books & raises revenue.

This would be the same guy who pulled up a farmer and booked him for unsecure load, the unsecured load was his muddy gum boots in the back of the ute. Also booked a elderly lady for unsecure load which was a bag of groceries on the back seat. Have heard a heap of other reports about him too.

Woolly,
Already live in Paradise but would like to see much more of this great country.
My response to this would be to ensure the reason for the "unsecure load" was clearly noted on the ticket and then quite simply to take a photograph of the "offence" (my gumboots in the back of my ute, or my groceries on the back seat) and then contest the ticket in the court.
I guarantee the charge would be thrown out.
Unbelievable.

He has been booking people for not locking there cars properly because their windows are down a little bit more than the allowed amount.
Gday...
That is a valid law and enforceable. Introduced to help slow the high incidence of car theft - doors must be locked, keys not in ignition, and windows not down more than a very small amount (if down at all).
Makes sense to me.
However, one of the things that annoys me these days, is that in the "good ole days" the local copper would see the "infringement" and give ya a warning. Get caught again and he would issue a ticket. They reach for their ticket book immediately these days - no latitude.
Cheers - John

We have a similar problem when ever a new cop is transferred here. Book any thing that moves for a few months, then goes quiet. Not realy good policing in small country towns. Latest quote from SA police commissioner, we don't have Quotas, but we do have Benchmarks. bit of a play on words.
hi all. unfortunately there are lot of them out there in all parts of police force
some have chip on shoulder
others are just idiots
some are quiet good
that's just the way it is
enjoy
as an ex-cop who did work in very small country towns, I know there are a few ****s like him out there, but they generally don't last long. He will get treated by all the locals as a prick and his wife and kid will be sent to "Coventry".
He will then either pull his head in and calm down, or move on - usually back to the city.
But some locals in small towns think they can break all the laws (not the silly things in the posts above) and then get very upset when theyre pulled up by the local cop on it. In my time, I seldom did more than chat to the local who was breaking something fairly minor............if he/she chose then to continue, then they could expect a hit to their bank balance.
Life is about common sense and most country cops apply that as they are known to everyone, but have to live as part of that community

Typical of NSW cops. Pathetic at best. Did you check if he was wearing his underpants on the outside? And to think we are supposed to 'respect' these idiots when they go out and these things. As an old saying goes: Catch a real crim!
Larry
There are some cops That get a bit carried away but if you had to deal with the motorists on our roads you too might end up getting a bit carried away, I have worked with serving police officers out in the community and by far they are very genuine and careing people who deserve our respect and the odd few idiots need a formal complaint back to their superiors asap

Happily doing both to the Max.
Life is like a camera, focus on what's important & you will capture it every Time
while a few people join police forces for the glory, power and good pay, most do for altruistic (just typing this post to show off that I know one big word lol) reasons - they think they can make a positive change to society.
That's why I joined. But I found out that you were just a number in a huge machine and you were just a "pimple" that couldn't change any of the bad things. Once this sort of cop finds this out, they either leave, stay on and do the best they can at the time or become a prize prick like the guy described in this thread. Once in a while, a civilian prick evades the employment process and goes onto to be the same, but this time with a uniform, power and a gun.
I currently have a female friend who intends to join the police (and she will be employed) because she wants to change domestic violence. Despite long chats about the fact that she wont change anything and only a change of community attitude towards violence generally will cause change, she intends to join. Ive even had her chat to a female police offiver friend who has been in the job for around 20 years.
Not all cops are bad cops!! Those enforcing traffic laws are usually hated - but remember the police don't make the laws you don't like, the pollies do. If a cop doesn't like the law, he doesn't have the right to decide not to enforce it - its his job to do so, even though he/they will be hated for it. Blame the pollies, not the cops (excluding the few bad by nature and attitude cops)
If your house is burgled, car or van stolen, you are assaulted, who ill you call for help?????

I have only ever met one copper who was truly evil. I went in to Bunbury Police station to change my license over He never did or said anything wrong But the evil emanating from him was very strong. That was 40 odd years ago.
All the coppers I have met since have been nice people doing their duty.
Some a very admirable people indeed. I have much admiration for the work they do to keep our community safe.
