Suggestions - NSW south coast camp spots

Hi all

Looking for any thoughts about good spots to stay on the NSW south coast - say south of Ulladulla. We plan to spend 5 weeks in the area in mid February to March (departing from Mornington Peninsula - Victoria). We have an 18 foot tandem off-road pheonix c'van towed by a 2004 turbo diesel troopy. I'm keen on fishing and will have a small tinnie on top plus a couple of bikes. We enjoy bush camping but appreciate this area is very popular, so expect to spend a fair amount of time in national parks. I've been doing a little planning and have highlighted so far the following places;

Murramarang NP - possibly Debot Beach or Pretty Beach

Eurobodalla NP - Brou Lake campground

Mimosa Rocks NP - Gillards campground (unsure c'vans can get into this spot)

Bournda NP - Hobart Beach campground (no water in this spot)

We have travelled the Victorian east coast extensively but plan to focus our attention on the Southern NSW coast this time.

I am keen to find at least one spot to prop for a week preferably where I can leave the boat in the water close to our camp. Would appreciate your thoughts on either the spots mentioned above or any others you think would fit the bill.

Thanks in advance.

Peter

You're right about Mimosa Rocks Peter, although its a long time since we were there.

Try Dalmeny or Mystery Bay ... 575 and 576 in Camps 7.

Dalmeny is a great spot, but forget about it at Easter as they are usually booked out by returning families, outside of that period is a great spot.

Would also look at the campgrounds north of Moruya next to the airport, it`s basic but clean with toilets & town water in various spots.

North Moruya and Mystery Bay are both run by Eurobodalla Council under a manager. Usually referred to as 'primitive' camping - but low cost. North Moruya - boats into river. Mystery Bay - ? boat ramp and it would be into bay/ocean.
Dalmeny is also Eurobodalla Council park and there is a boat ramp into ocean. Powered sites.
Brou Lake is dirt road in (and ?lake for boat) as is Gillards Beach where I'm not sure it has a boat ramp - and is a long way in via dirt road - with care should be OK with caravan.
Bournda NP - more than one spot at Bournda - if prawns are on good catching in lake (without boat - it's shallow) - our kids loved camping there.
Tuross Heads has good boat ramp and CP with excellent lake for fishing. Dearer though.
Nelligen (inland from Batemans Bay) has boat ramp for river fishing (Big 4 CP though)
Hope that helps.

And if you just want a free overnight stop, Waldrons Swamp rest area 6km north of Moruya is getting good use over the last few weeks. A big open bitumen area is great if wet weather. Shady trees in other parts.
