water coming from rangehood cap

Realised that rain water is coming thru the gap that has tht white paper looking filter that goes into the rangehood, had a look, its that big white cap on the roof.

Question. Can I seal around that cap or should I buy a new one? Any hints would be appreciated- Fran

If the vent is a dometic type it has an "O" ring seal so may just need re tightening, I had the same problem, so removed mine completely then cleaned up the area and tightened back down, simple job but you need access to the roof. No sealer had been used or needed.

A small amount of silicone could be put around the o ring perimeter if really necessary but I'd still be removing it to clean the area first.

Further to what Brian said, go to http://caravansplus.com.au/catalog/pdf.php?pdf_id=323 and you will see an exploded view of the vent and installation instructions (in many languages.)
