The H/Reece site actually discusses in their Q &A about any on going maintenance of hitches generally...says do not grease as it will attract dirt and grime and be detrimental but you may use their special formulated white grease mentioned previously...or dry silicone.
.Individual choice...it seems there will always be devotees for and against....I won't be using anything again until it becomes apparent I should use their white dry grease or dry silicone. Hoo Roo

Used to be called "Zinc oxide" grease, many moons ago when I serviced cars, a little was smeared on your door strikers & the bonnet & boot latch to reduce wear on the latch.
