Colorado Trailer wiring

As a follow on from my previous trailor plug thread.  I have bitten the bullet and got a 12 pin socket and started to change over the car socket to 12 pin.  Only problem is the Colorado has 9 wires in the 7 pin plug, with the other two marked as 'Parking Aid Earth' and 'Parking Aid Ground' respectively.  I always have regarded Earth and Ground to have the same meaning in electricity.  These connect on either extreme of the 7 pins on an extra two connectors. Do I just Isolate and not use or should they be joined?

OK I've worked this out.  The two extra leads are triggered by the cover of the socket being opened, disabling the parking sensors.  The wiring is within the holden socket so will have to make up a 7 to 12 lead adaptor for the moment.
