Dave a message from another Dave, mat like you I smoked for about 45 years and had tried many times to quit without success I tried chewing gum, hypnotism, willpower but all without success I have now been two years without a fag and its definitely much easier to control the occasional, urge now I received terrific advice from my doctor when she prescribed Champix it made the initial three months of quitting much easier then a second script for another three months I am now cigarette free.

Try your best Dave. My son was 3 packs a day for over 30 years and has now kicked it.. I can't say much, not being a smoker....well !!! A cigarette smoker !!

i've started again then stopped for three days when at Girgarre over new year , come back to Greens set up got in ute went down shop for fags. gunna give up sooooooooooooon.
Ive been smoking for most of the last 40 years. Gave up from time to time and then worked with smokers and back to it again.
Tried Champix last year and after about 2 weeks stopped smoking, but only survived for about two months before I needed the fix again.
Did Champix this year, but continued smoking for about 6 weeks until it was really unpleasant and the smell of other smokers nearly made me sick. I did the starter 3 month pack and felt ok, but this time carried on with their 3 month maintenance pack. Guess I took about 4 months of pills in all and then didn't need them.
Been smoke free for 7 months. Sometimes feel vaguely like a smoke, but not strongly enough to go buy a packet. I just do the reformed smoker thing and look at the sad and weak sods lined up at the supermarket handing over a $50 note to buy a packet or two of these things. And when I walk up to an entry door at the shopping centre and smell all the used butts - YUK!!!
BTW Tried all the Nicobate products and they were a waste of time for me. Chemist Warehouse are the cheapest for Champix - less than $80 for the 3 month pack - about half that of other chemists
