Man & 2 Sons missing

Folks, just saw this on the net, if you're in the Miles, Qld region - please keep a lookout for a white Pajero with a silver trailer.

see this link [url=http://www.9news.com.au/national/2014/12/20/21/03/searcg-continues-for-father-and-sons-missing-in-queensland /url] and http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-12-21/search-continues-for-missing-father-and-sons-in-outback-qld/5981750

Great news !!!  Apparently they were very lucky to be found when they were, but they did the right thing, and stayed with the vehicle.  That's where so many people go wrong. They wander off, trying to find their own way out, and come to grief.

Cheers,

Sheba.

I agree. Although he seems to have not even had the most basic essential ... FOOD ... not enough to survive for a few days apparently.

Carry at least a week's supply of food and water irrespective of anything else ya do ... and make sure SOMEONE knows where ya are going .. and then go there and not vary the 'route'.

cheers - John

Hats off to the salt-of-the-Earth farmer who got his farm bike and searched all day for them. I bet it was an intelligent grid he worked to locate them. Nothing like a practical man with local knowledge.

The media builds up sportspeople as 'heroes' including that first grade footballer who was 'gutted' by a girl minor's unintended insult, but what about this farmer? Not saying he was heroic in the strict sense of the word, but his initiative, determination and concern for the welfare of others saved three lives. That should count for a column or two surely, it not an award.

Well said, johnq.

Same goes for a lot of sports people and actors, they aren't really such important people in the real world.

Finally the media realise the farmer saved the day (and three lives). What a lacklustre recognition it is though. The media should be ashamed of themselves. Here is a splendid example of an Aussie man and father doing what had to be done and without being called upon to do it,

The ABC grudgingly ran something on him only two hours ago.  What is wrong with them?
