There has been considerable discussion on the forum about the flora at Greens Lake - in particular a certain tree.
I took it upon myself earlier in the year to make sure that no transgressions were occurring that would raise any risk to any flora at the Lake. Should there be any danger of exacerbating the well-being of trees, then I felt action should be taken by those who were responsible to correct that transgression.
I made contact with Goulburn Murray Water and obtained the following information concerning this area as described by Dept of Environment -
This map is drawn from the PDF document attached. The JPG also attached below is a "snap" taken from the attached PDF document to save scrolling through it to find the detail on flora -
The information was provided by Mr Brian Letcher within the following email in response to my email to GMW ...

John,
Thank you for your interest in the flora surrounding Greens Lake.
Whilst Greens Lake is not a reserve and is owned by Goulburn Murray Water I have attached a protected matters search report for the Greens Lake area, which identifies all matters of national environmental significance.
I have also included a link to an Environment App below which you may be interested in.

Hopefully readers have read all the way to this point. I really hope so.
I stress the reason for publishing this information on the forum is only to ensure that no further emotive argument is forthcoming regarding the danger, real or imagined, to any tree at Greens Lake.
None of the trees are listed as vulnerable, endangered or critically endangered.
Please can all members of this forum simply contribute in a positive way, sharing their experiences of the GN lifestyle and the aspects of that lifestyle that have drawn us all to this wonderful forum.
It does not matter what your background, age, gender, political or musical (or any other) persuasion, preferred camping style, caravan, motorhome, campervan, tent or even sleeping in the back of your car.
Every member has so much to offer and share - irrespective of how long they have been on this earth or the time they have been on this forum.
Again, I apologise for my badly worded post yesterday that created a false impression that some may be seen as more value than others here - it was not my intention and my naivete was too obvious.
I have been at Greens now for 3 weeks and have been so busy enjoying this beautiful place that I haven't even looked for a particular tree. Can't be very obvious as I haven't noticed it yet but there are an awful lot to choose from. Maybe I will spot it before I leave.
BTW...have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE ... Those of us at Greens intend to. Cheers Colleen
Its not dangerous to a tree to nail something into it unless its a copper nail! Horticulturists screw or bolt right through a tree sometimes to hold a branch from falling, and the tree is fine!
Please don't put wire or nylon rope around a tree or branch though, it eventually ring-barks the tree as it grows and will kill it
Happy Christmas to all the Thong Trees, Bra Trees, Nicker Trees and Bottle Trees around Australia!!!!
PS And we loved the anthills in Qld and NT that are dressed in T shirts and hats etc, they look like fat people all along the road. the ants keep working, some t-shirts had been "built over".
Well written RL - and good comments from other posters - Gerty - we loved the anthills being dressed, some even have hard hats on, we even saw a Santa!!!!
