2014 Avida Longreach Motorhome

I am interested in hearing from anyone who have purchased the current model Longreach and their views on it. What they would have added or removed etc.  Also towing a small car either by A frame or on a trailer?  Any feed back would be greatly appreciated as obviously it is a major purchase and I will be living in it permanently.   Thanks  CJ

I have not purchased a longreach , but when I was looking at caravans, I found that similar size caravans had different payloads. I would do the same checks on a mh That I intended to purchase. ie add to the Tare weight, your/partners weight, plus fuel, water, clothes, food, cooking stuff, bedding etc, trailer towball weight etc and see how close it gets to/over the GVM.

Hi CJ,

Don't really know anything about the Longreach, except it is big. I have a Wirraway MH, and to be honest having done miles of research before purchasing, I would not even look at another brand. I love my MH.

As far as towing once again, looked at all sorts of options, I can thoroughly reccommend, the SAFTOWing system. A Frame. I tow a Suzuki Vitara. No problems hooking and unhooking on my own, very easy to manage. I have never towed before and have no problems handling it because of the way the system works. The car follows directly your line of direction, unlike towing a trailer type of setup where you have to

Check out their website, www.saftowing.com, They are on the GC and are about to open in Melbourne.

Darn,  you will have to stand on your head to view the pics. For some reason that I have yet worked out, sometimes pics taken with my IPad show up upside down. Sorry. Hope you get the idea.

Not sure about the 2014 model but we were going to buy the 2012 model, obviously 2 1/2 years ago.

We were 95% into the purchase, but, we went with our second choice of a 5th wheeler. Not knocking the Avida in any way, just for us we decided it was not the way to go.

We did heaps of research and spoke to many owners, maybe a pm and I can give further info of our decision, as at the price they command, it is a major purchase as you say.

Hi Shekon,

Thanks very much for your reply and the photos. Don't worry I downloaded them and rotated them to view them.  Yes I think the A frame system is the way to go. I am doing a lot of research. I believe the new cars these days don't register the km's when being towed either only when the engine is running so that's a bonus too.

Thanks again your your reply.

CJ

Hi Brian,

Thanks for replying. Yes, the Longreach is very expensive but being single and not having any children I plan to sell the house and live in the Longreach so want something with a bit of room and something that I don't have to keep setting up every time I stop etc.

No use being the richest person in the cemetery as they say!

Cheers

CJ

Hi Brian,
You have probably already made your decision on this. I have purchased a 2014 Avida Longreach and unfortunately we have found that they have had serious suspension, steering and slideout issues for the past 8 years. We have had to address all of these issues at our own expense. After sales service on expensive items is non-existent . They totally ignore any requests knowing that owners will eventually have new suspension installed to stop the motorhome you have paid so much for self destructing.
My recommendation is that if you are seriously thinking of buying an Avida product, pay the $50.00 to join the WRV club (Winnebago RV Club). It is basically a closed forum. There are so many examples of poor service and frustrated owners here that you will have a better understanding of the way purchasers are treated. Then make your decision.....
