I think it is dependeant on the size of the Whole setup..

Normally the vehicles need to be over 4.5t and over a set length..

Check out the trucking forum's...

Psst do a search on the forum's This topic has come up before..

Sort of still "on topic". I got some of the stickers in question plus a couple of others from FB but had Vantec applied to the new van before putting the stickers on, now they won't stick. So just keep that in mind if applying protective coatings etc. Polish might do the dame thing.

Not really if you know what you are doing.  I wrecked 2 stickers when I was fitting them to a truck, before I learned the trick. confuse

The trick is to apply - spray or splash soapy water to the area to be fitted.  Then, peel off the backing paper and put the sticker where you want it, slip & slide it until you are happy then....very thoroughly squeegee, wipe whatever way push all water out from under the sticker.  There should be NO bubbles remaining.

It is now in the right place and will never come off. smile

In regard to vantec, polish etc, a wipe with method on a rag should fix that.

Cheers Neil.

I did it a better way, as I bought a metal plate one and fitted that to the back of the trailer on both sides, as once I have the trailer hooked up to the bus it is just over 13 metres long.

Just a hint I picked up from a sign writer years ago.

Wet the complete area plus a overhang, with dish washing soap and water (not too strong) and it gives you a good sliding base to adjust and position the larger sticker.

On a van with the corrugations in the metal skin, make sure you use a small wooden blade (ie a ruler) to push the sticker into the ridge.

Then leave it for 24 hours to dry.

Be good. I have photos on my facebook page.

Just thought I'd add this bit, sorry Papou,

Vantec are supplying a bottle of liquid they use so all should be good in the end. I might add also that I emailed Vantec and 1 hour later got a phone call from them that was friendly and helpful. If I wasn't quite so far away they would have come and sorted it for me.

There are rules and regs for the do not overtake stickers and signs and their placement. This can be found on the NSW RTA site.

They must be reflective grade 2 RTA material.

Hi All,

At the last NSW State rally at Bathurst in March a representative from the RMS (Roads and Maritime Services to non-NSW people) addressed the audience. One topic he mentioned was putting 'Do Not Overtake Turning Vehicle' stickers on the back of caravans.

While stating that it was not compulsory for caravans to display the signs he pointed out that without a sign when making a left hand turn and swinging wide should a vehicle try to sneak through on the inside and your van hits them then IT IS YOUR FAULT!

With a sign is on the back if the same thing happens THEN IT IS THE OTHER DRIVERS FAULT! They have disobeyed/ignored a direction, being DO NOT OVERTAKE TURNING VEHICLE.

By the way, the signs are only to be used when the combined length of tug and van is over 7.5 metres. So it is a no-no to put them on the back of box trailers for example.
