A Glitch with the Pioneer Audio.

Hi guys. I have an old pioneer audio  system in my sprinter 2004 (radio CD DVD TV etc). Basically it crackels like *** especially when another vehicle passes. The static is really bad, even when switched off! Also the Cd is HOT- when it comes out. Hot enough to fry eggs on it! Everyone I see just wants to sell me a new one. But this is really good system, if old (know the feeling lol)

So any ideas or anyone you know who can fix it on the peninsula???

Cheers Didi

Hi didi , my son had a simular problem with the system in his car and I fitted a 60mm computer fan connected to the ignition , I presume its a 12volt electrical system , many dash boards just don't have the ventilation .

Hi didi;

         First and formost thing IF you want to keep your original stereo system is to get in contact with Pioneer head ofice and ask for their advise. Don't just take your unit to the local electronics service centre, don't wast their or your time. Sounds like your unit is very much loved and just because your unit has a couple of years under it's belt and developed a couple of issues, don't just through the unit away and purchest a replacement.

Have a good talk with their service manager and while you may have to pack and post the unit down to their head office to let them have a good look at your unit ( don't forget to include insurance and your contact details ) and after a while they will get incontact with you and give you the good or bad news.

I just googled 'Pioneer audio' and was able to get their contact details in Melbourne. Some times returning a faulty unit back to the manufacture/ importer is the best option.

Good luck.

Did contact Pioneer valiant and told me their people were in Mornington. Went to Mornington only to be told they dont service anything so old and Id be better buying new.

Now strangely enough Id had the rear camera on while I was driving last time. this time switched it off and guess what? No static!
So just going with as is at present!
Cheers Didi

Hi didi;

        Great news with the stereo, is your rear view camera hard wired to the display in your car?? or does it have a RF link ( wireless ). Maybe the display moitor is causing interferance ( power supply or inverter for the back lighting if your display is a lcd ). Filtering may help, maybe also try moveing the display away from your radio, unless yours is built in.

What the pioneer service agent said to you, would sound about right, can't be bothered and all they want is a new sale.

When and if your car stereo playes up, go to the top, go to pioneer them self, head office and NOT one of their service centres.

I've seen this type of thing happen all the time, more profit in a new sale, than trying to repair your stereo. A new unit would be covered by the manufactures warrentee ( so no problems there ) and if your unit was repaired by some one else, and later on it failed for what ever reason, trying to get it repaired by them  again may be a issue, that is why a lot of places would rather talk you in to replacement rather that repair.

Any way good luck and l'm glad you found a solution.
