I know everybody has opinions but who tows what and why??? I don't always need the car on the back mainly when away for a week or more. I play music and carry my equipment above the cab under the bed and in the storage bins however at some of the Cancer fundraisers I play at I am there for a week and having my car would be handy.
I have a Winnebago Mazda T4600 (turbo) and want to tow my little buzz box (a Holden Combo Van Tare 1130kg) away with me.
Now... which way should I go as I can see advantages and disadvantages in both ways and just when I think yep I shall tow a dolly then I think...
* I have low profile factory mags what if I get a flat or worse?? might not be able to put it back onto a dolly
* yep get a single axle car trailer the buzz box is off the ground and you can carry things with the car i.e. equipment :) hmm a flat whilst traveling could be disastrous.
* then its hang on a tandem car trailer would be better cause one flat means the car is still stable, doesn't sway and and I can set up the trailer to maybe carry my equipment etc...
* but a dolly takes up less space
Now I don't necessarily frequent caravan parks so space isn't an issue and I have space to leave the car or dolly trailer when not in use. Aunty Winne can tow a trailer without too much drama and I have towed trailers before including semi's so no drama there. Re caravan parks and National parks people with caravans park their cars next to there caravans so I guess I could park the trailer next to Aunty Winne so it would still only take up the same space there.
Any assistance or thoughts or experience on the road with either would be appreciated.

We also carry a spare 80 litres of fuel, extra spares for the trailer and the motorhome( that way we don't have to get on the ground under the Bago to get the spare) An a toolbox the we carry ground sheets and tools so that we do not overload the bago.
The points you raised about your decision have made the most sense to date "the ability to carry" additional items and as I have a compressed spine I think the trailer is a better way to go.
I have just started towing a Suzuki behind my Wirraway MH. Easy Peasy. Never towed anything before in my life. I have gone with an A Frame set up by Saftow. So easy to hitch and unhitch on my own. That was the main criteria for myself.
Frame is set and then a braking system is located in the tow vehicle which talks to me in the MH. Notice no difference on the flat, hills are a little slower but not by much. Fuel consumption is as far as I can tell around 3-5k's per litre less. Don't quote me on this as I have only worked it out on my fuel consumption by the amount of mileage I am doing before the gauge drops. I don't the exact figures, I am but a mere female who works on the deal that if the gauge it around 1/4 full then I fill up again.
I had my fitted on the Gold Coast in Qld, however Saftow are about to open a factory in Melbourne in the New Year. This is all they do and are great people to work with. I suggest you check out their website.
The only problem I can see with a trailer or Dolly is if you free camp. When your car is not on the trailer or Dolly, you are letting the crooks know you are away. With a flat tow rig, you can store away and know one would know.
