Bees

Has anyone out there had trouble with bees setting up camp in their van. Just had a swarm move into a battery box in the rear of the van, will have to evict them tonight.

I am worried about another lot moving into the vents for the fridge/freezer . Any ideas on how to deter them would be great.

In anticipation John

Matey I always spray the outside and underneath our van with one of those pest sprays you get at the supermarket, never had a problem with ants or anything else, touch wood.

Are they the introduced honey bee or the stingless native Australian bee? - if it is a swarm with a queen you could contact the local council who will know someone who salvages swarms as they are worth a bob or two. I have 4 stingless bee hives in my backyard and they usually sell for around $3-400.
Good Luck.

Thanks dave will give that a go. You used to be able to buy pest strips, but like most things that work, they were taken of the market.

In reply to Denis they are definately the common honey bee, I would love to have some of the native bees, occasionaly see the one with blue stripes but I believe these are a solitary species.

I'll try Daves idea first, if not I will have to resort to a screen of some sort as suggested by Sheba

Thanks for input .John
